Can I ask a stupid question? Why isn't there some provision made at the checkpoints for restraining someone who attempts to get in with a weapon?

Security guards need to be able to shoot straight and run fast, And tackle like in the NFL in short order.

Steven Emerson was just on MSNBC. According to his description, there are two guards stationed at each entrance, at the machines. If the perp runs, there's no extra guard past the screening station, to block or pursue.
