The courage of the Israelis points up their own cowardice and absence of a moral compass.

I think it's more than that. His "neo-con" bashing seems to have taken him to the point of positing a conspiracy to help Israel at our expense, yada yada, which leads to the idea of the old "Jewish conspiracy."

Pat's not as overt, of course, and probably not as ardent on the topic as Sobran, but I my sense is that he's headed the same direction.

Thank you for your judgement on who is and is not a Jew. Last I recalled Meimad was a Jewish *religious* Orthodox party in a vote sharing arrangement with Labor. Shas, a haredi party, was part of the Rabin Labor/Meretz narrow left coalition as well as Ehud Barak's coalition.

There are many religious Jews who are politically leftist, perhaps as many as who are on the right. Politics does not define who is a Jew. Faith does.

In reality, the downward progression he notes will probably have more than a few splashes of red.

Since you brought the Viking Kittens up on the thread, it’s fair to point out another FR anomaly, Jews don’t necessarily get to decide who’d a Jew. Of course later some of the posters of that opinion will migrate to another thread and wonder why some Jews think bigots inhabit the right, where could that come from? Go figure.

My point exactly, Judaism is not a 'race' but a faith. I have worked with folks whose ethinic background (all immigrants to the US) was german, russian, polish, morrocan and isreali, all of whom described themselves as jewish in there faith. But all of whom, when asked their ethnicity, described themselves as from the nation they emmigrated from.
Most these people were conservative.

For a Europe that is disarmed, plagued by a demographic nightmare of negative population growth and unsustainable entitlements, filled with unassimilated immigrants, and deeply angry about the power and presence of the United States, the Jews and their Israel provide momentary relief on the cheap. So expect that more crazy thoughts of Israel's destruction dressed up as peace plans will be as common as gravestone and synagogue smashing.

I seem to remember a thing or more about what defines a Jew. Israel defines a Jew, as one with a Jewish mother. The Nazis had a different definition, which was quite logical and based on  something that I can only imagined would be understood if one were familiar with some contrived thing called "Nazi Math, or Aryan super race BS," or by some other brilliant nomenclature.

 

Put 2 Jews in a room and you will get three opinions.  I am always amazed, and I am still awed at the profound truth of that observation. Jews in Israel (from another article posted today)  criticizing other Jews on these type of matters. It is in my view, astonishing! Astonishing, because the evidence of the truth is so readily available, via the Internet, and even other resources. Resources that are so easy to access, that in days to come, there will be no real excuse for ignorance. Only stupidity can  be excused logically. If you are reading this, then you will be out of excuses at some point.

 

I am not that bright after all. There is so much that I do not understand concerning these matters. I am so dumb, that I actually had to look up the meaning of the word rubric.  I am always surprised, when I am compelled to recognize the level of my own ignorance.

 

I am on the edge of ranting now, so I simply must stop posting on these matters.

Into the article a sentence or two,
I misread 'postmodern' to be 'postmortem.'
The article made more sense that way.

I recall reading several books by Oliver Sacks ("Awakenings") which describe his patient's different brain injuries. Some of the most interesting cases were the people whose particular injuries made them unaware that they had them. Although they were usually in good spirits, they tended to more troublesome to manage than other patients.

I highly recommend his books---not too technical, but you will learn a lot (you can get them at the library.). My favorite is "The Man who Mistook his Wife for a Hat".
