The liberal press is not running with this.! This shows the dims want this to go away. There is more info. to come out on this issue.
Yes, the arrogance of the rats is despicable(what else is new?) Zell Miller is on Linda Vester right now, calling for heads to roll. This issue at the very least, will cause the dims to find a scapegoat, and may turn out to be the R's "goose that layed the golden egg"

Any seat on any "select committee" carries a special responsibility with it. These committees, unlike others, always have equal representation from both major parties instead of proportional membership, and they are supposed to act in a non-partisan fashion, strictly for the good of the country. Patrick "leaky" Leahy lost his seat on this committee for doing what this memo suggests, and it seems to me that he needs some company.

Not ONE Pubbie has mentioned that the report hasn't even been released, yet the Dems are calling for an investigation???? Roberts talked about that last night on Hannity and Colmes

Nah, if that were true, the talking points would have been all over the media by last night and on this morning's editorial pages. Right .. not one Dem would go on TV last night

Between FOX News, talk radio, the current Senate discussion dominating their day, and a few reasonable publications, the "mainstream media" will be forced to at least (and maybe at most) acknowledge the memo and to play a few Rockefeller sound-bites that essentially urge its dismissal.
Somehow I don't think it will sweep under the rug that well.

(With all of their sweeping under the rug, it's a wonder how DEMs can walk on their lumpy carpets.)

After seeing a pattern of Republican appeasement of Dims the Senate (no matter what they do or say) over the last year, I believe that the Dims must have something on them which could damage them greatly. Republicans always act in the subordinate position, even after the mandate of 2002.
I don't buy the 'new tone' bit at all.
These guys are hard core pols, and would kick ass if they wanted to.
As it is, they are part of the problem in Congress.

Any seat on any "select committee" carries a special responsibility with it. Exactly!!
Yes, there are political games played in DC .. But when it comes to the Inellegence Committee and Our Nations National Secuirty .. This is where it ends .. This is where the line is drawn .. You Do Not play games with OUR SECURITY!!
What the Dems have proved to all is that they cannot not be trusted ..
What the Dems have done with this memo is proved that they care more about their party then they do with the lives of the American People
Zell Miller is right .. Heads should roll!!

Me too!! Even the word "bipartisan" disgusts me. You never hear Democrats using that term in reference to themselves and yet a Republican can hardly open his mouth without using the term. Shoot, why don't we just do away with the two party system altogether. We could just have one big party and we all could live happily ever after! GRRRRRR......
To: Mo1
Sorry, other than Roberts. I just can't believe that with so many spirited Republicans out there, and on FR, that not one in the Senate has shown the backbone to take the Dems to the woodshed.
To: mathluv
He does say it was from his office - not given to anyone else. Then Rockefeller just admitted that he VIOLATED the committee rules .. which calls for his removal from the committee

Me too!! Even the word "bipartisan" disgusts me.I agree, it is not in the dims vocabulary, let alone their actions. The sad truth is, that elections are won in the middle. The R's and the dims are about equally divided in this country, and if a party is to gain power, they must win the fence sitters. The R's hold the advantage now because the weak kneed middle is seeing the dims for what they really are. A power hungry party, who puts their agenda ahead of the country. A beloved Democrat Senator Zell Miller, is saying just this

Failure to include term limits for House and Senate members in the Constitution was one of the founders' two biggest oversights, in my opinion. Their wisdom was remarkable, but they had a blind spot as regards Congress. In their day, they were (understandably) more afraid of a powerful executive, and too naive as regards the mischief Congress could create. (The other big oversight was failure to include effective checks on the federal judiciary.)

Sean Hannity is holding more information then he disclosed yesterday on his program. I think there will be more to come on today's show. It seemed that why to me also .. like who sent him the memo
I believe he said something like we would all be surprised to know who sent this memo to him
It gave me the impression that it didn't come from a Pubbie
He also mentioned that they were running around in DC to find out what this memo was about .. I took it as thought not even the Dems knew this memo was leaked

Bayh admits that Rockefeller has been under "intense pressure" to pursue a more partisan investigation, and has decided to pursue a bipartisan approach FIRST.OK, I believe we have a clue here. Bayh has been consistently supportive on the war on terror, and when the WMD flap started I saw him on Fox defending the intelligence and saying that we would eventually find them. Bayh is up for reelection next year, and believe me, if he participates in a hatchet job on the President Bayh will lose his seat.
Now, look at what Bayh says in defending Rockefeller. He says that Rockefeller has been under intense pressure to politicize this. WHO is pressuring Rockefeller?
Did Rockefeller actually admit a staffer wrote this, or did he say it came from his office? If it came from his office, was it RECEIVED mail? And if so, who sent it?
I am struck by how much this sounds like HRC talking points, and how the strategy is similar to the "get Nixon" tactics used so many years ago. I also think that the Clintons want an impeachment to make theirs recede in importance.
As mewzilla said, we really, really need to find out who wrote that memo.

From what I recall .. Rockefeller said (in a statement) a staffer drafted the memo, but did not send it .. that someone must have took it from the waste basket.
