If Soros were in Europe in 1944 he would have had his great fortune confiscated and been put in a death camp with his family and everyone Jewish that he knew. Would he have blamed the policies of the US and Britain? Or perhaps Zionism would be to blame?

Soros doesn't hate himself; he loves himself. It's other Jews he hates, excepting of course other Jewish millionaires.
