As a Mom of a child with epilepsy (JME), I have deep sympathy for your heartfelt anguish.
However, the other side of this shot/noshot debate must also be addressed.
Eight children have now died in Colorado since the season began just last month.
It makes for a tough call, and no on should take vaccines lightly.
My young asthmatic daughter got a flu shot.
I played the odds.
The odds af her dying from the flu far outweighed the chance of her being damaged by the vaccine.
Am I 100% sure it was the right thing?
No, but I played the best odds I could after looking at the latest information.

We currently have an outbreak of pertussis in Wisconsin, centered on Fon Du Lac. Over 150 cases. Children at risk for severe complications including death and severe neurologic injury. Hard to identify as presents as "cold" only distinguishable weeks latter when cough turns to "whoop". At that point too late for treatment with antibiotics.

For you getting your gal a shot makes sense. However I read that the inhaled vaccine makes the recipient contagious for up to a month after vaccination - passing it around to all of us who do not normally get flu shots. Its a conspiracy! Get a flu shot or we'll make sure you get the flu from our "clients". ;-)

Vaccinated or not? I heard a radio talk show hoist claiming that he could find no informatioin about whether or not the dead children had been vaccinated or not (he was trying to imply that may they were vicitims of the shot I think, but maybe I misunderstood)
