Who owns the real property?
The parishes, or the dioceses?

In most cases the Dioceses do, though there have been a few cases (especially missions and church-plants) where the courts have ruled that the parishes actually own the property. Most famously S. Mary of the Angels in L.A., they then petitioned Cardinal Mahoney to be received into the Anglican Use Pastoral Provision, but he turned them down, and they joined one of the Continuing Anglican Churches.

It will be a more difficult situation if a large number of parishes leave; if a parallel Anglican identity is given some formal recognition the Courts' claim to neutrality in awarding property to the Dioceses will be tested.

There is also the possibility that the A.B.C. will step in more forcefully. Although he has no formal powers outside England (and few outside his Province in southern England), he has immense moral authority, and a strong bully pulpit; if +Rowan Cantaur started to lean heavily on +Frank Griswold, there is a strong likelihood that there would be *some* movement.
