Now, back to Fitzgerald. At 43, his best years are ahead of him. If the GOP is honest about reforming itself, it should beg him to run for governor in 2006. On 11-11-03 I received a three page letter from Fitzgerald on my number one issue-Immigration and I tell you he would get my vote for Governor. But, BUT, can Blago be only a one term governor with the Machine behind him?

Fitzgerald is a prize if only the Republicans would appreciate what they have. He and our junior senator from Pennsylvania not only repesent an important demographic (conservative Catholics), but stand their ground and earn admirers and votes from old-style Democrats.
Any inside word on who is going to replace Fitz in the Senate?

Illinois is an example of blindly towing the party line. Whether its Democrats or Republicans, the scum will rise to the top if the people are not paying attention to anything but the letter after the name.
We can see as an example that the Dems are corrupt nationwide because they have not answered for their crimes and political disasters of the last 40 years.

The true credit that Fitzgerald deserves is this: He had the stones to facilitate getting a good Federal prosecutor in Illinois to handle the George Ryan case. The Republican machine is so messed up, it wouldn't have had the courage to get a "clean" prosecutor in here - but maybe a wimpy "go along to get along" kind of prosecutor. Also, I'd like to see DuPage County cleaned up, also.....too many lingering issues and shady deals. The Republicans have a long way to go to gain Illinois for Bush.

Illinois is the perfect example of what happens when RINOs take over. George Ryan and company have ruined the state GOP for at least a generation.

There are a lot of Repub's I would not vote for. We have a governor here in Ohio who says he's a Repub, but acts like DemRepub. He's raised taxes, is anti-concealed carry and so on. I would NEVER vote for Gov. Taft again for any office!

Fat chance. The Republicans in Illinois are more concerned with living it up than with furthering a conservative agenda. I'm afraid President Bush doesn't have a prayer of carrying the Land Of Lincoln next year.
