For 2004, Bush Has Strength in the White Male Numbers
LA Times ^ | Dec. 28, 2003 | Ronald Brownstein

WASHINGTON — President Bush's overwhelming strength among white men looms as a central obstacle between Democrats and the White House as 2004 approaches.

In an election season heavily shaped by terrorism and national security, several recent polls suggest Bush could dominate white male voters as thoroughly as Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush did during their three successive presidential victories in the 1980s.

White men compose just under 40% of the electorate, with white women just over 40%, and minorities composing the rest.

WHY IS MEXICO A PEST-HOLE???

Breeding is more fun especially when someone else will pick up the tab. It is the macho culture.

We in the Pacific Northwest know as well.

But, our party leaders insist on creating a new Rat voting bloc. So be it.

"No politician EVER lost his/her job by screwing over dads."

Those of us who have a broad circulation publication or other means of dissemination might hold a lot of votes in our hands. Emphasizing the possibility of a swing/dropped vote could get us more recognition than single mothers (who often present themselves as "soccer moms," although divorced at least once) get. ...but only if we are rigidly socially conservative. The socially liberal fringe anarchists will be ignored.

And on a very related matter, California and its clone states (northwest, northeast) are not the whole demographic, voting world to Republicans. ...see what's happening with the immigration amnesty thing? If it won't vote Republican no matter what, it will be ignored.

I guess I kind of flippantly answered you. However, you may not know the macho culture that I am speaking about. This is very true of the culture here in South Texas.

The mammasita of the family praises her sons. She encourages them to run around on their wives. Many times the wives know this is taking place but feel trapped in these marriages. It is a sad but true fact of their culture. It happens all too often.

What most people don't realise is that many of the Mexican men are lazy and think they are too good to work. This one factor will come home to roost in the US when you find so many young men on the welfare roles.

"However, you can "keep" no fault but add infidelity and other equity grounds for distribution of property and residential custody. (still need to keep the MYTH of joint custody) It just a political game of playing the definition game."

Actually, you're right about that. It's the way the legislation game works. Although continuing to be simple about it might be good for gaining support in socially conservative discussions, when we get down to the nitty-gritty, what you just said will most likely be the way it's done.

Some senior strategists on both sides believe the risk to Democrats with white men could increase if the party nominates Howard Dean, whose opposition to the war, liberal positions on social issues and buttoned-down persona create clear contrasts for Bush.

"Buttoned-down" persona? Dean? What are they smoking at the LA Times? Brian Williams has a "buttoned-down" persona, Dean has a screeching frenzied persona.

My single issue is keeping the Democrats out of power.

Sorry that disgusts you. :^)

"If he wants to keep us he will stay away from amnesty."

The only way Bush gets this 'white male's' vote is by:

-Securring our borders!

-Punishing the employers of illegal aliens!

-Giving all illegal aliens a 6 month deadline to leave before we start confiscating everything they own and using the proceeds of the sale to pay for their forcible deportation and the reimbursement of the U.S. Taxpayers for the net drain these FREELOADERS have been on our economy!

"You single-issue guys never fail to disgust me."

Illegal immigration is the linch pin for all other Conservative issues.

Our country lurches further to the left with every 3rd-world, Marxist/Socialist, open-borders, one-worlder that violates our immigration laws.

It "disgusts me" that many FReepers can't seem to realize that.

It further "disgusts me" that this country suffered less illegal immigration yearly under any Democrat President you can name.

It further "disgusts me" that there were more National Guard troops on our own borders under the slimiest Democrat President our Nation has ever seen than there are under George Bush.

It further "disgusts me" that Israel is building a wall to keep out the Palestinians and India is building a 4,000-mile-long wall to keep out the Pakistanis with U.S. Taxpayer's dollars, but George Bush can't find dollar one for walls along our own borders.

Thanks to Bush, the largest Naval Base in the world, at Roosevelt Roads, P.R., was given away FOR FREE so that it could be turned into a playground for corrupt Puerto Rican politicians and Caribbean drug lords instead of providing for our national defense.

If Bush continues down this path of Hispandering and record deficit spending, I'll gladly vote for a return to GRIDLOCK.

"All of us know that Maria the $5/hr house keeper will immediately join the terrorist jihad against America the minute Bush gives her amnesty."

Maria's 5 anchor babies will rip-off the U.S. Taxpayers to the tune of:

-$35,000 dollars per year for their free education,

-further steal $10,000 more this year in unpaid for emergency room visits,

-steal another $15,000 in EARNED INCOME TAX CREDITS!!!, Food Stamps, housing assistance, grants for utility bills and fraudulently obtained Welfare checks.

Maria will also bring in her elderly parents, that have never worked a day in their lives in the USA, and get them on Social Security Disability and Medicaid at a total cost to the U.S. Taxpayers in excess of $40,000 each year.

"Wow..this is a tough one."

You're wrong. This ain't tough at all.

This $5.00/hr maid costs the U.S. Taxpayers in excess of $100,000 per year!

On top of that, she and her parents will probably illegally vote for a RINO or a Liberal Democrat.

Send all the illegals back to their home countries! We don't need these freeloaders!

Nope, just asking. I agree. I have my own bone to pick with so called charities that are nothing more than pseudo-unlicensed lawyers which faclitate document services for illegals to delay their deportation. The INS/BCIS/USCIS allows such "charities" to be recognized and represent third parties despite the fact they are facilitating the wanton flaunting of immigration laws.

How about using the amnesty? The amnesty will require the illegal alien admit their illegal to qualify for amnesty. That act can be used to disqualify them for tax credits.

We can also put some teeth in the achor baby revisions that occured in 96. It was supposed to be that anchor babies hold no sway. Everyone was sent back with the mother and father and they were told to come back at 18. (if they could prove birth in the USA later on)

I like your map! However, speaking as a resident trapped in the bowels of the liberal beast, I think Dean would be at least as likely to carry Massachusetts as Vermont.

Republican incumbents Richard Nixon in 1972 and Ronald Reagan in 1984 carried white men by 35 percentage points en route to landslide reelections, according to network exit polls. In 1988, George H.W. Bush beat Democrat Michael S. Dukakis by 27 percentage points among white men, the same advantage Reagan enjoyed over Jimmy Carter in 1980.

Hmm, tell me again which party has a "gender gap" problem?

Stanley B. Greenberg, the pollster for Gore in 2000 and Clinton in 1992, agreed. "Younger, married white men are disastrously, overwhelmingly Republican," he said. "They are trending more Republican over time. ".

Interesting choice of words.

Blunt in his words, comfortable on his ranch, dismissive of ceremony, impatient with diplomacy, Bush fits "an old-fashioned male ideal, deeply embedded in our cultural mythology,"

The ideal "is that a real man is a man of few words and determined, resolute action: like in [the movie] 'High Noon.' And Bush captures this almost perfectly and effortlessly." The president's black-and-white pronouncements on terrorism and war — from his promise to capture Osama bin Laden "dead or alive" to his "bring 'em on" taunt to Iraqi resisters — which generate unease among many women and even some more affluent men, help cement Bush's attachment to blue-collar men, who, recent polls show, support him at higher levels than men with college degrees.

Condescending nonsense. This is September 10th thinking in a nutshell.

In the latest Pew survey, white men without college degrees preferred Bush to a Democrat in 2004 by 60% to 25%.

Notably absent is any reference to white men WITH college degrees. I suspect a strong majority support the president which wouldn't support the not so subtle assertion that only uneducated people support W.

"He kind of runs a testosterone-driven White House, in terms of both the rhetoric and the dominant issue, which is war," said John Anzalone, an Alabama-based Democratic pollster. "It's a natural resonance with men, particularly white men. Usually the only thing that knocks that down for a Democrat is the economy."

The Republican Party is the party of male men, the other party is that of feminized men. When Islamic nuts threathen to obliterate your nation, is it any surprise the guy who does all he can to protect the nation is favored over the sophisticates who would turn our security and sovereignty over to an international body populated by the likes of France, Belgium, Cameroon, and Libya? Like, shouldn't we check with Senegal before we defend ourselves?

You forgot to add that, with a legal whore house on every street corner, the prostitutes control all of the wealth in Mexico.

I'm reminded of a popular Mexican rhyme I was told several decades ago.

My name is Poncho.

I work hard all day on the rancho.

I make me 5 pesos a day.

Then I go see Lucy.

She give me some p***y.

And she take my 5 pesos away.

But hey, they don't have to worry, because the U.S. Taxpayers are there to support their families.

Evidently, the prohibitions against prostitution have been deleted from the Spanish versions of the Catholic bibles they send to Mexico. Those are just great 'family values' they have South-of-the-border.
