Bush didn't give the Americans anything...he just let them borrow it for a while. They still need to pay it back with interest of course.

No if he actually managed to cut 1.5 trillion in spending then that would have been an accomplishment...borrowing money to "give" it to the same person that has to pay it back isn't nothing but smoke and mirrors.
