Dude, all they did was use gauze bandages as props. How stupid to wrap them both identically over the head and jaw. Duuuh.

May Lori's spirit live on through her children!

If they would mistreat them like that while photographing them, imagine what they may have done off camera.

The idea that this proves they were treated with respect is just absolute nonsense. Nobody but our corrupt western media could entertain such an idea.

Imo, they were beaten.

That was my first thought. The pieces of $hit at NBC and the those Iraqi bastards deserve the same punishment in IMO. They are both a disgrace. BTTT.

Trust me, I did not "get you wrong".
Thank you for your service. If you indeed served.FAIK, you are Jane Fonda.
I guess my, and hundreds of thousands of veterans puny efforts in the Cold War count for nothing in your mind, since "you" did not experience a nuclear detonation, and you cant see any reason to thank us.Especially female veterans, who shouldnt be veterans in the first place.
I would like you to say that to my mothers face, in front of my father. Both of whom were Korean war veterans.
We were all just wasting our time, and it seems in your view, I should have been elsewhere in the 1970s and 1980s.
There is nothing as noxious as a military veteran spitting on another veteran, without just cause.Much worse than an ignorant anti-war civilian spitting on a uniform.
But you knew that, or do you?

#4 - thanks for the ping.

Kirkwood - toward the end of the tape, after movement by the Iraqis, Lori's breathing appeared to be "agonal", as in the last breaths she would take. I say this from experience as an EMT -- do you agree/disagree as a medical school professor? I also agree with your statement on the poor bandaging technique. This tape should be used to put several on trial for war crimes.

NBC is a lower form of animal, that's for sure. I'd boycott them, but I already did that several years ago. I sure hope the family members didn't see that tape...

I can't seem to get the video to play, so I haven't seen the tape, so keep that in mind when I ask this:

Is it possible that it was our own Soldiers who bandaged Piestewa BEFORE the Iraqis got her, and before those Soldiers were killed themselves.

Is it evident in the tape whether or not the bandages were put on by Iraqis? I suppose someone with a military medic's background might be able to tell if the bandages look like U.S. Govt-issue, and/or Army-medic wrapping techniques, etc.

And does anyone have another link to the video that isn't via the MSNBC website? I can get it to play audio, but I can't see the video.

About all I've heard of our troops having contact with Lori and Lynch after the crash was in
one of Pvt. Patrick Miller's interviews.
IIRC, he said that he did reach into the Hummer and checked Lynch for a pulse...
but that he didn't feel one.
And that he thought he did see some "flexing" of Lynch's limbs, but assumed
this was just some post-mortem nerve reflex.

But Miller was "on the run" and dodging bullets, so it's understandable that he
got a "false negative".

I am sorry if I missjudged your posts.
Many "anti-women in the military" FReepers bashed PFC Lynch when she was rescued and while the media had a field day over her broken body before she said a single word to anybody about anything.
I was given PFC Lynches book, and have read it.
Still, she did not really speak, and I was appalled at the words Rick Bragg, the ghostwriter, attempted to attach to her name.
That NBC aired this video shocked me greatly.
Only the most naieve of idiots did not understand what happened to her at the hands of the Iraqi military.
Even now, people won't leave her alone. She served honorably in the military. That does not give anyone the right to make her the poster child for agenda's she did not sign up for.
I pray she never finds this internet site.
And I am furious that the media will not let her alone.
I pray she, and Lori Piestewa's family and friends, never see that video.
But I know they will.
How can NBC justify this additional bit of torture for them?
Why?

The video in the link posted earlier in this thread makes it quite clear that the reason the video never aired in Iraq is because it does NOT show the Iraqis in a good light. They obviously abused a wounded soldier, and this video shows the abuse. They also, obviously, took SOME care of them, but not enough, and definately not what we would give to enemy wounded. I think, for once, they put all the info they had out, to let us make up our own minds about it.

btw, I meant NBC, not the Iraqis, in this sentence. It is late, again, and my brain needs defraging, again. I should know better, by now.

Why would NBC air this tape?

To prove, once and for all, that Lynch was a hero greater than Patton. To support all the politically Korresht freepers who think she is a one-man army.

To support all the losers who have posted on FR that she is some kind of hero, when she herself said she huddled in the bottom of her truck compartment without firing one single shot at the enemy.

I saw the footage. They were in bad shape and the Iraqi doc or official was trying to force them into position so they could film them for propaganda video. Pretty disgraceful stuff and it contradicts the Iraqis who said the POW weren't harmed.

An appalling thing. Utterly disgusting. As far as I am concerned the hospital "caregivers" were animals.

As with Danny Pearl, these savages not only maim and harm, they film their dirty deeds. Sickos.

This is a site where American soldiers are defended. Got it???

I only saw the tape once, but to me the dressings weren't even correctly placed and the wounds were not properly cleaned. There should have been compression bandages on some of the wounds to stop the bleeding. The dressings hardly helped and probably were not sterile. If there was a broken neck, moving the head would likely cause breathing to stop. But she moved her leg, so maybe no spinal injuries. Still, it was totally inappropriate and medically unsound to move the head.

I just finished teaching correct methods for moving victims and dressing such wounds just a week ago to DHS rescue teams. It made me sad to see this woman dying when maybe she didn't have to. It is impossible to say if she could have lived or not, but her treatment could have been better I think.
