All 141 people aboard Egyptian plane dead: Officials
Agence France-Presse
Cairo, January 3

All 135 passengers, most of them French, and six crew members died when their Egyptian charter plane crashed in the Red Sea on Saturday, the company Flash Air and airport officials said.

"All people who were aboard the plane are dead," Osama al-Sayed, a senior official with Flash Air, told reporters.

The plane disappeared from the radar screens of Cairo airport at 4:44 am (0244 GMT), minutes after taking off from Sharm el-Sheikh airport, the civil aviation authority said.

The crash came amid heightened air security in the face of fears that a passenger airliner could be used for a terror attack.

Plane was en route from Sharm El-Sheikh to a Cairo transit and then to Charles De Gaulle airport in Paris.
