Make sure you keep repeating the mantra!

The problem is not jobs leaving the country, it is not capital equipment leaving the country, the problem is not intellectual property leaving the country, the problem is not contracts going to communistic/fascistic/socialistic government run countries that prop up their companies with government funds to defer losses that the US companies cannot compete against...

The Bush administration has seen the loss of about 3 million American jobs (a disproportionate amount of middle-class jobs), but only seem to be working on creating jobs for illegals (oops... they are all legal now, voila!), H1B visa workers, Communist Chinese, Indians, Iraqis, Pakistanis, etc.

How does that go again?

In fact, they will get better, they are getting better, and if you have the right attitude, you can cause them to get better.

But your point is well taken. It's NOT all in your mind. There's a real problem here, and if you're suffering, well, you're not the only one.

But even in this situation, finding the road out starts with what you are thinking in your head.

My job search lasted 8 months, but I hung in there and kept at it. I finally landed a job I had wanted for 10 years, with a pay rate above the average for my area. It truly does depend on how bad you want to find a job.

This will probably start a flame war, but here goes anyway:

Every year since 1983 more women have entered the job market than the year before.

If the number of two-income households were less, there would be plenty of work for the main breadwinners in each household.

Where I live, one out of every two families buys a house big enough to require two incomes to sustain their lifestyle. Then when one adult loses their job, they start whining that they can't swing the mortgage, etc.

(I'm kidding. Honestly. I know that increased productivity increases the GNP and raises the standard of living for all.)

This is harsh medicine and hard on the unemployed, but economists know that perpetual extension of unemployment benefits creates a disincentive to some people and they therefore don't actively seek jobs. This keeps the unemployment figures up, and the Bush administration surely knows this.

Clinton shill Lanny Davis said yesterday that all he wants the eventual Democrat nominee to say is..."Are you better off today than you were four years ago???

Look, folks, the economy hit bottom sometime in the Second to Fourth Quarter of 2003 [that's right, boys and girls, just this past year].

We will bump along with minimal job creation until "well into 2005" in the words of the Minutes of the Federal Open Market Committee.

In fact, there is an outlier forecast for the 10 year note to hit 2 1/2% this year in a last [for this cycle] Flight to Quality.

Bush is STILL skating on thin ice.

He shouldn't be playing footsie with VINCENTE Fox.

What's that matter with you ... you should just start-up your own fortune 500 company. Don't have the capital ... well just have a positive attitude and the money it would take will fall from the sky. Don't have the experience to start your own business because you've devoted your life to high tech ... just have that ol' positive attitude and people will break your door down whether you can actually do the job or not. Live in a job depressed area ... well just move to Podunk Iowa and start your business there.(/idiot pollyanna mode off).

2003 was a hellish nightmare looking for a job. It took me almost the entire year, and I had to take a massive paycut too. Finally got something around Thanksgiving.

It was awful awful awful. And I doubt it's a whole lot better now too.

I've never understood this either. I will mop floors and clean toilets if I have to. Flip burgers, drive a delivery truck, wash cars . . . whatever it takes. If you're to proud to take a job . . . any job . . . then I don't feel the least bit sorry for you.

Yeah, I'm looking myself. I'm in the computer field myself, also know some web design, but I'm still looking and temping too. My grade school buddy is out of work too and we are looking into cleaning offices to get by at our end until things pick up. Still though, we must quit peeing our jobs away to foreign lands and bringing in illegals. I still like President Bush, but it has gotten rockier for him with me over this immigration issue. Due to the war on terrorism and I can't stand "Howlin' Howie Dean" I'll most likely vote for him this year. Still though, the GOP is in the crosshairs now and if they don't get the message, the Democrats can take back from us the things we fought for. I know it doesn't pay to whine about job loss sitting on one's duff while not taking any job to survive, heck, we have to survive somehow, but the issue is that we are in a world of hurt here and if things don't change, we will end up as a Third World nation or end up in Civil War II, i.e., the America we grew up in as we know it will cease to exist. We are at the crossroads here, either we get the economicback to where we take things from the Earth and make something of them, adding value to them, and us as well or we descend into a more socialistic system where people work part of the year with the government (us) picking up the tab like they do in France and Sweden. We are facing that reality and I don't like it. I wish I had 15 minutes to talk with President Bush, one on one. I don't know if it would do any good but at least I would have his ear.

Bush wants mexicans employed and given citizenship, he wants to spend a half trillion dollars in Iraq, yet he is doing nothing to get the jobs and factories back from asia, and does not want to give unemployed american citizens any extended benefits. The voters will clearly see this in 2004.
