[history]
This is a partial transcript of Special Report with Brit Hume, Jan. 13, that has been edited for clarity.
BRIT HUME, HOST: The administration is not saying anything about this, and it is not even clear officials know anything about it. But some sources in Iraq are talking about a development that could prove an important turn in the search for weapons of mass destruction. For more on this we turn to the man who so often seems to know things before everybody else.

...They're unimpeachable. Again, I think they've been right all along.....
This was important to me. Mansoor reported previously that OBL is in Iran and Al Queda is effectively moved there. Fox carried this for several days and then switched back to reporting OBL is in Pakistan.
The US military seems to not to believe him and continues to concentrate efforts in Afganistan/Pakistan.
I suppose it is best to not report where he is actually thought to be if actually looking for him, but there is certainly no effort to give Mansoor credence.

Kaytushas can carry chemical warheads and have a max range of only about 20Km. I don't imagine there'd be any problem getting them to go off in mid-air.

I don't believe the Katyusha is capable of being fused for a mid-air burst, nor do I believe they can be mounted with chemical warheads without serious modification, but I could be wrong.
I think an attack like this would be carried out using Frog-7, Scud, or SS-21 rockets.

Thanks for linking the two threads. One thing I noticed while watching the interview last night was what appeared to be a rather long delay in Izaj hearing Hume's questions. This delay makes the transcript a bit difficult to understand as Ijaz stops in mid-sentence, answers a question, and the attempts to resume his thoughts. I wish a little more time could have been alotted, as I have dozens of quesions I'd like anwered on this.

When has Ijaz been right about anything?

I'll bet you are a real champion of nuclear hand grenades. How far do you want to be from a chemical or biological air burst?

I'm afraid it's worse than we thought, apparently Mansoor also has a house in France. From the official transcript:
House of Representatives
Committee on the Judiciary
Subcommittee on Crime
Hearing on H.R. 748
"Prohibition on Financial Transactions With Countries Supporting Terrorism Act"
Tuesday, June 10, 1997, 10:00am
Room 2237, Rayburn House Office Building
Testimony of Mansoor Ijaz
"Mansoor is active in Democratic Party politics in the United States. He also earned All-American weightlifting status while attending the University of Virginia. Born in Florida in 1961 and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Mansoor divides his time between his homes in New York, Toronto and France today."

In April,2001,Iran launched about 77 Shahab-2 (equivalent to a Scud-C) rockets against MEK (Mujahadin-e-Khalq)facilities in Iraq.Rockets hit the following cities/areas:
Basra,Kut,Khalis,Jalawla,Meqdadieh,and al-Amarah.
Iran also has a huge chemical weapons inventory, that includes: VX,Sulfur Mustard (?),Phosgene, and Cyanide.

This is the kind of report which can't help but make any rational person uneasy-BUT-I noticed today, Fox News seems to have "forgotten" all about yesterday's reports.
The news today was all politics, space race,Kobe, and yadda-da-yadda-yak.
One would think,if this were a real threat,it would be aired every 1/2 hour or so-at the very least !

Good point. I'm out of my cubicle in about 5 minutes and will head home to Fox News. I'll be curious to see if Brit or any of the evening crew mention this story.

Ret. Gen. McInerney was just on Special Report. Basically reiterated Ijaz's story from last night. He did say, however, that Washington, and in turn Baghdad, were notified and they are taking a close look at the situation - big time. Hmmmm.
