As he looked up from where he was seated he softly repeated "Thank you...thank you...thank you".

I guess that wasn't clear in my post. Who would have thought he'd be thanking me because I was thanking him.

Welcome to FRee Republic.

Thank you for thanking the soldier for his service -- I make it a point to thank every person I meet who is serving or has served in the US Military.

You would be astonished at the number of "You are the first person to ever say that to me" responses I get.

We Vietnam Era Vets know full well the meaning of a sincere "Thank you." We did not get many of them when we were serving.
