It certainly is interesting. Obviously Vernon put it up to make a point and get some press. Probably a net positive political move; people who would be uncomfortable with this sort of demonstration wouldn't vote Vernon anyway, while people who are undecided can see very clearly where Vernon stands.

I seriously doubt Vernon the Man will go "Roy Moore" when the ACLU sues. He'll most likely remove the monument at the request of the city council. But, still it helps to show the folks of the NC-05 who the real Republican is.

Problem is, he needs to not only get a plurality, but also to come out on top of a run-off.

Guess we'll see if he was correct on how this will play May 4 and then Jun 1.
