December 1967 assigned to the guided-missile frigate USS Gridley

Five months of service in the Pacific, with a brief stop in Vietnam

June of 1968 promoted to the rank of lieutenant

By the end of 1968 back in Vietnam

Returned to U.S. an admiral's aide in April 1969.

January 3, 1970 requested early discharge

Kerry was on the USS Gridley?!?!?! No s**t!!! I was assigned to the USS Gridley from Sep 1979 to June 1980.
