Calif. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher Receives Death Threat Over Immigrant Bill

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (AP) - The offices of Republican Congressman Dana Rohrabacher received dozens of threatening telephone calls Tuesday, including one death threat, after he authored a bill that would limit health care services for immigrants.

Information on the threats was turned over to police. "It will be forwarded to out detectives," said police Lt. Tom Donnelly.

The bill, introduced last week, would require hospitals to report a patient's immigration status before they could be reimbursed for treatment. Patients found to be in the United States illegally could be deported.

Threatening calls began after the bill was discussed on a New York radio station Tuesday. The office received so many calls they stopped answering the phone, said Rohrabacher's assistant, Kathleen Hollingsworth.

Staffers then listened to voice mails left at the office, one of which said, "I'm coming to kill you," she said.

"This is not just somebody I've angered and who's expressing some hostility. These are gruesome threats that I will be attacked and killed," Rohrabacher said.

Liberals are so compassionate they'll threaten a Congressman with death for proposing a bill to stop illegal aliens from getting treated for free in hospitals.

Although this may be typical of liberals one may also suspect someone connected with President Bush for these threats since this bill tends to enforce laws against illegal aliens. Remember, our official policy is free access to this country and all services for anyone coming from below our Southern border.

Consider him e-mailed. I titled it Illegal Health Care legislation PRAISE, and I guess when they see that it's praise and not a death threat, they might be happy to open it.

This is the openmindedness and freedom the left promotes.

Oddly enough, we had this sort of left-wing supremist ideology reach its apex in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, and still people don't realize how oppressive it really is.

I couldn't get past the use of "immigrants" rather than "illegal aliens" in the first sentence.

Well, remember, the AP has a conservative bias. [/sarcasm]

"Holland has just become the first country in Europe – perhaps the world - to declare a four-year moratorium on any fresh immigration, including “asylum seekers”."

That's what we need for the USA.

The death threat probably came from Margaret Cho or Moby.

So much for the peaceful economic refugee theory.

Why should we be surprised? This is how things are done in tinpot dictatorships.

I expect alot more of this as these folks feel a greater & greater sense of entitlement.

I'm not surprised at all and had been expecting this crap much sooner to be honest.

That's the problem with letting law breakers in, they just continue to break our laws and feel even more empowered.

The Key, Operational word here is: EMBOLDENED.

And the Bush Plan has contributed in some way to this new sense of entitlement and empowerment. Folks, this is no joke.

This may be funny in 2004 (but not for most of us). But if something is not done to stop the demographic and political shift and co-optation of America into Latin America, in 10-15 years, there is liable to be widespread violence as legal Americans (as opposed to illegal visitors) (many in border states) try feebly and frustratingly to take back their land from invaders... This is not a joke, and is not extremism, to predict and project such a dire situation; We are only looking at history, the situation in Bosnia, France, Germany, polarization in similar societies, and the lack of will by authorities to do ANYTHING they can to stop and reverse, while they still have a chance. I am still for orderly, peaceful DEPORTATION and denial of social services in the here-and-now, WHILE WE CAN STILL DO IT.

That is the most humane, peaceful, honorable, fair and long term option based on wisdom, IMHO.

I believe you intended your reply to go to Bikers4Bush. I am, however, in complete agreement.

Bush really let me down with this one. In all likelihood I'll still hold my nose and vote for him because of the terrorism situation, but absent that circumstance I would consider this a deal breaker.

Figures they'd stoop to this.

Dana's a good guy and has lots of friends looking out for him. Now even part of L.A. County is back in his district! So some of us get to be represented by someone fighting the illegal alien invasion.

Maybe it was Rove!

Well, the open borders folks feel emboldened right about now. And it's not the fault of a liberal.

Yes it is.

Bush.
