I'm anti-amnesty (er, anti-reward) but whenever something like this pops up in the news, I wait for the other shoe to drop. Just wait, it'll turn out that some mentally-ill 'right-winger' was making the death threats. Never forget, it was Timothy McVeigh who got Bill Clinton rehabilitated in the minds of the American public.
