Please call Costco corporate headquarters at 425 313 8100 and complain about the misuse of the membership mailing list to advance a leftist agenda, as well as e-mailing your response to the Costco Connection.

Look, they may have been farmers, and they may have been conscripted, but they were still the enemy, fighting and killing US troops. That's the problem with asymetric warfare, they don't wear uniforms and they don't have specific home addresses. That's the chance you take when you take up arms against the US.

By the way, would expect the LA Times to take any different approach to the issue? I wouldn't have ordinarily even clicked on your link, because you don't have to read the LA Slime to know what they are going to say.

Then what were they doing taking up arms against our troops? The detainees were all taken in battle.

Terrorists usually have some other job as well. It is much like the communists in Southern Vietnam. It was difficult to tell the noncombatants from the communist rebels. If they were carrying a gun or taking part in the fight against US troops, they were the enemy. Many of those who pose no further threat are being released. The rest will have to wait.

Thank you, I just had a long discussion with the editor of the Costco Connection. He finally agreed with me that this issue was not presented in as balanced a way as it might have been. I told him that if he had labeled Amnesty International (the side that wrote the defense of the prisoners) as a leftist organization, and not quoted BBC as one of the sources of information on the subject that it would have been more balanced.
