Border hop Chen's brainchild: witness

Had to get to U.S.

By DAVID SCHMEICHEL, COURTS REPORTER

If at first you don't succeed ... try again. That's the advice immigration lawyer Ingrid Chen is alleged to have given to a client after airport customs officers refused him entry into the United States, court heard yesterday.

Ferdinand "Dean" Guiterrez, 32, testified yesterday that he sought Chen's help in getting back to California, where he was working as a computer analyst on a temporary visa. He was denied entry because he was caught lying to airport officials about the nature of his trip. He only did so "to make a long story short," he claimed.

SIGNIFICANT WAITING TIME

Chen came up with a number of ways to help, but none of them would get Guiterrez back in time to suit his employer, he said.

"All of them involved a significant amount of waiting time, which wasn't really going to work for me," said Guiterrez, who testified yesterday via a satellite link from California.

Guiterrez suggested driving over the border and flying home from North Dakota. Chen latched on to the idea, court heard.

"She said she knew some people who could get me across without going through the actual checkpoint," he said. "To me that sounded like a good idea."

After paying Chen............

CRIME VICTIMS OF ILLEGAL ALIENS

There is an enormous number of Americans who have been harmed by the criminals who pass through the nation's open borders. For that reason, this section can only provide a symbolic tribute to the many unnamed victims who have been killed, raped, robbed, crippled and otherwise personally violated.

It is particularly shocking that even in post-911 America, the government still refuses to protect the people in the most basic ways from the world's terrorists and criminals who enter at will to do as they please. The borders remain a sieve while the human carnage from crime perpetrated from illegal aliens continues to mount. In another stunner of INS malfeasance, the agency often cannot even manage to deport dangerous criminal aliens when they reach the ends of their prison terms.

Bump for this very important link!

An illegal immigrant from El Salvador who was deported in August 1999 and sought for sexual offenses in California was apprehended after he once again illegally entered the United States, a U.S. Border Patrol spokesman said this morning.

Another job "Americans don't want to do"? Or is it "Family values don't stop at the Rio Bravo"? Maybe someone in government can educate me, I'm not sure what it is anymore.

It is not a SW American problem. They are everywhere. I live in the Pacific NW and we are knee-deep in illegal immigrant problems. I go to North Carolina at least once a year, every year (I have family there). In the last few years I was blown away at how many immigrants (I assume the high percentage of illegals is there as well) mostly from south of our border are now in N.C. 15 years ago I would have been shocked to walk into any grocery store in N.C. and see a "mexican food section". Now, every store has that section.

It is truly all of American's problem and it is truly a problem.

Had our "immigration control" services been working properly, the Virginia snipers (both Muslims - both immigrants) would have never gotten off their first shots.

As it stands, if the borders were 100% sealed the second you read this, it would take the rest of our lifetimes to weed out just the criminal migrants, let alone those here illegally and not having any detecable crimes.

I agree wholeheartedly with this statement, and I am a conservative American who is horrified at the President's insistence on repopulating America with third worlders. His actions are not conservative.

I can't imagine anyone that thinks filling our country with millions of uneducated, unskilled, non-English speaking people is a good thing. Utter lunacy.

India says it intends to deport 20 million illegal immigrants in short order. Maybe we should watch and see how they do it, could be our own government might learn something.

Iknow some bushbots know there is a problem but why are they not more open-minded and just read, actually read, the things that are printed everyday? Stats can bore people but what about all the true human horror and crime stories?

Because they know that Bush is set on this plan of open borders and uniting Mexico with America. and they know they can't do anything about it. They also know that a Democrat president would give instant citizenship to 12 million illegals, as Bush will eventually do, but the Democrats will get it done faster.

They also see that a Democrat win would drive a stake through the heart of what is left of America. Democrat appointed judges, no homeland security, more outlandish spending, and on and on.

Basically, the Republicans know America is headed for destruction, due to the more and more massive illegal immigration that is coming. They want to enjoy at least a few more relatively good years before the end. And they believe Bush can provide those relatively good years, and to heck with the pain and suffering of those whose lives have already been destroyed with illegal crime, etc.

In another case of justice denied, the murderer of Phoenix high school student Tanee Natividad merely crossed the border into Mexico to escape law enforcement. A local television station was able to track down the murderer in a bar just a few miles across the border without much effort.

Max LaMadrid has no reason to hide because the Mexican government actually helps violent criminals escape American justice. According to Arizona Attorney General Janet Napolitano, action by the Mexican supreme court making it more difficult to extradite criminals has "created an incentive for people to flee into Mexico as a safe harbor." At one time, Mexico would not extradite criminals who might be subject to the death penalty; the Mexican court recently extended this "protection" to any Mexican who might receive a life sentence, thereby giving a free pass to rapists, kidnappers and child molesters.

In fact, the investigating reporter found 100 cases of violent criminals from the Phoenix area escaping into Mexico in just the last few years. Meanwhile, the grieving family of 16-year-old Tanee gets no justice — like thousands of others in the southwest.

Another case file from www.immigrationshumancost.org. Our President won't do a thing to stop this assault on Americans.

"India says it intends to deport 20 million illegal immigrants"

How crappy does one's homeland have to be to want to live in India? This points up exactly why what we have left of America has to be defended. We can not save the world nor have the resources to attempt to. We certainly don't need people who prefer to cut and run in lieu of fixing what's wrong with their own countries.
This is not a nation of immigrants. It is a nation built by colonists and pioneers who shared a common trait: courage.

"Are you joining in Tennesseans for Tancredo?"

I'm urging everyone to write Mr. Tancredo in for the Primaries for the sole reason of raising a ruckus (and making the press work for us once). As the man has often said he doesn't want the job and urges us to support the President, come November I'll probably hold my nose to help insure a repeat of the Perot debacle doesn't occur.

But if the Democrat candidate comes up looking very weak I can't promise that. Someone's been swiping my future newspapers off the stoop and that's made decision-making more difficult (let alone stock-picking).

Well I'm not an immigrant but a great-grandchild of one. The "nation of immigrants" rhetoric is an excuse those who wish to invade us are using as their justification for doing so. In 1924 mass immigration was cut off partly for assimilation reasons, I'd say it's time for another one.

There has to be a reason America has survived this long.

It is hard to convince me our destiny was to be absorbed into South America.

Thanks to MO I'm researching voting laws in my state...ran across an interesting forum, here are some remarks- CL, you need to get this word out on the Ill. board please?:

We don't need no stinking laws, we're Democrats.

Posted by: Howard Veit on January 10, 2004
Just wait: in November, GWB may not be on the ballot in Illinois, because the Repub convention (and therefore Bush's nomination) comes after the state deadline for filing. {{What?!?}}

And the Democrats (who run the People's Republic of Illinois) are not going to relax the rule, which means that GWB would have to be a write-in candidate.

Somewhere, that old {expletive} Richard Daley The Elder is peeing himself with laughter.

There has been an attempt to wave Bush through, but the Donks attached legislation that would have waved fines for several state senators, all Donks, for violating election laws. The original Sun-Times article seems to be gone, but I copied some of it here.

Posted by: Jason on January 10, 2004
Perhaps it's time to give the donks a taste of their own back? If I were a part of the Bush Administration you can bet your {expletive} I'd suggest they look into suing the state of Illinois in the SCOTUS for violation of the voting rights act and anything else I can think of for not including GWB on the ticket and giving the voters of Illinois a "real choice" come election time. Yep, imagine the howls when the Administration's solicitor cites the decision in New Jersey as precedent. I'm almost looking forward to it.

Posted by: Robert Modean on January 11, 2004
Were Illinois a key state for Bush's re-election bid, the Democrats' effort to keep him off the ballot would be critical. As is, the negative publicity the party will get in media outlets in the state that are also picked up in neighboring states of Wisconsin and Iowa will make things even tougher for the eventual Democratic nominee in both places, which were won narrowly by Gore in 2000 and which any Democrat desperatel needs to retain to have a chance in 2004.

Posted by: John on January 11, 2004
I think it can be a smart move on the part of the GOP to have GWB excluded from the Illinois ballots. It would demonstrate that at least one party does actually follow the rules and would provide an endless amount of press for a write-in vote. {{This would work if Tancredo was on the ballot only???}}

It's not like GWB was going to overcome the Democratic political machines in Illinois anyway.

This is my leaning also. I am going nuts trying to find the Illinois rules on write-in's. Mo said he found out it will not even count as a protest vote, just tossed in the trash, so I recommend everyone to find out their rules on this.
