MSNBCs Keith Olbermann on Wednesday night delivered a snotty take on CIA weapons inspector David Kays conclusion that there are no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, as if the war could not be justified on any other grounds. On his Countdown show, Olbermann rued how no WMD does not mean no destruction. Ask the 500 American service personnel dead in Iraq or the wife of former Ambassador Joseph Wilson.
At the top of his January 28 show, the MRCs Brad Wilmouth noticed, Olbermann asserted: "Good evening. Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction. Nothing newer than 1991 at worst. But no WMD does not mean no destruction. Ask the 500 American service personnel dead in Iraq or the wife of former Ambassador Joseph Wilson or whoever is going to end up at the wrong end of the inevitable Washington game of 'pin the tail on the scapegoat.' Our fifth story on the Countdown tonight, chief U.S. weapons investigator, Dr. David Kay, testifies to the Senate. His message today: Though U.S. intelligence agencies misjudged the threat posed by Saddam, Saddam Hussein was still worth deposing. Rather than summarize Dr. Kay's testimony, we're going to give you highlights of it, about two-and-a-half minutes worth."
Changing the kitty litter, ironing my husband's long underwear, and listening to the audio book of sinator hillary! are just a few such pleasures.
I have read way too many death letters. I have helped guys who had no way with words write a few, and I have written my own, which always have gone into the shredder at the end of the operation. So far, anyway. As I write this, I am waiting to hear the latest casualty names; hoping selfishly that none of them are men I know, and expecting that I am wrong about that.
Most of the letters have expressed a desire for the recipient to understand that the casualty did not wish to die, but accepted the risk in a worthwhile cause. For Olbermann to insult these dead is despicable.
It is most irritating to me when people like Olbermann, who look down on, and never miss an opportunity to insult, service people, suddenly declare themselves our champions... just so's they can wave our bloody shirts.
God damn you, Keith Olbermann.
