She was doing okay, in rhythm with the strings, then had to go and ruin it with improvisation. They should have just gotten Aerosmith to do it, I doubt Steve Tyler could have mangled it any worse at the end.

Actually, it wasn't bad. The "vamp" is now SOP for big-time anthem singers. Best version I have EVER hear was this year at a Titans game. Sara Evans. No "vamping", but her voice really suprised me. It was then that I became a fan.

Nothing can duplicate Whitney Houston in the 1991 Super Bowl. The best national antham I have ever heard. Coupled with Desert Storm emotion.....brings shivers to my spine just remembering it.
