Dick Morris analysis changes with every poll. The man has no ability to look at the landscape from a strategic standpoint. I always thought he was a good tactician, but horrible long term strategist

Winning the midwest is key to victory. They dont care about the south.I thought you had to carry the South in order to win.

I suspect a "Kerry/Edwards" ticket before Ketchup Boy would even think of picking Hitlary.
I think Kerry would know he'd never live through his first term!
But a Kerry/Clinton ticket may bring out a large turn-out of so called conservatives who've turned against Bush.
At least the Dems are smart enough to support the candidate who can allegedly "win" rather than throwing away their votes on someone who shares more of their views but is not electable (Dean).

Hillary would certainly turn out the republican base wouldn't it. It would destroy the divide and conquer srategery.
I heard Colmes, I think, offering up Bill Richardson as VP. Now I also like that idea.

Not if you are a demorat. If Gore had taken NH , he would be President. The Dems are going to concentrate on the Midwest and appeal to the manufacturers, unions etc.

16 years in the white house with out being president... no way, ego is far too big. She'll wait till '08

No, only 10 years in the whitehouse as non-president, then the presidency without the trouble of actually winning an election as a challenger, for up to 10 years, with 2 more elections running as the incumbent President.
If she gets the VP slot, and the Dems win expect something bad to happen to the new Democrat President sometime early in 2007 (just past halfway through the term). Hillary would then rise to the Presidency, and be eligible for two more terms.
Plus, she can say that she's keeping her promise to serve in the Senate through the remainder of her Senate term. The VPOTUS is President of the Senate, and casts the tie breaking vote if needed. She might even convince New Yorkers that this would make 3 members of the Senate from New York.
And there's no downside to this for Hillary. If Kerry (or Edwards or Clark) loses, it will be all his fault. Hillary will escape blame and be clear to return to the Senate, then concentrate on the 2008 Presidential race.

You aren't far off. Hillary could, (and would), claim special ties to Illinois, Arkansas, New York, and DC.

Kerry's simply not that stupid...with Hillary on the ticket he's guaranteed a loss as her negatives come in to play. With a moderate southerner as vp....he's got a fighting chance against Bush.

I didn't think of the Greek tragedy angle... or more apt the Arkansas tragedy angle. She'd only have to wait about 2 months after the election before she'd plan for some unforunate event.

Hillary has to show her hand sometime. This is like waiting for an enemy army to finally come at you after waiting forever for it to make its move, so that you can finally slaughter it from your prepared positions. I hope she gets involved in this somehow, it will really energize Republicans.

Makes sense to me this way. JFKerry has demonstrated the need for powerful wealthy women in his life.
Today there is no more powerful woman on the planet than Hillary and she can open doors that he doesn't know how.
Look how she transformed the status of "First Lady", one can only imagine the new status of VEEP with her in charge.
Hillary cannot risk a golden opportunity back in power even if it is at Cheney's house, she knows her political time clock is ticking on the fast track.
Too much of the world is changing at a quick pace for her to keep tabs on former fellow travlers, look a the Frenchies they have their tail between their legs. Not a good sign for the owed one.
You really think it is fun herding the boy donkeys around in the Senate.

"a ritual offering of the VP slot to Ted Kennedy". This so describes what the Democrat party has to offer.
To: chiller
Wow...poor Kerry...talk about having to keep looking over your shoulder for that "accident" that will vault Hillary to the Oval Office...
To: pabianice; All
Great insights all. Politics make for theeee strangest bedfellows and this one would qualify. Assuming Kerry wins the nod, he'll have to consider the treachery his VP would bring to West Wing.
I'm also not sure the ticket could sucessfully counterbalance the NorthEast liberal influence, no matter where Hillary claims she's from, or grew up, or whatever Gov's mansion she lived in.

Yeah, Bill Richardson was the Secretary of Energy while the Chinese were stealing and buying national security sensitive technology. New Mexico didn't care, they elected him Governor.
To: HankReardon
New Mexico is mostly government workers and health care. Of course they would elect a commie like Richardson.
