All the IT work is being outsourced to India, while the number of obese Americans continues to skyrocket.

Funny, I'm probably going to have my choice of three jobs by early next week. Guess they haven't gotten around to outsourcing those jobs next.

You wanna stay employable in IT in this country? Learn more than code and hardware - learn several different functions within IT and develop business expertise. And learn QA concepts and apply it to your work.

As for upgrading skills/education: Upstate NY a.k.a. Collegetown, USA: land of "Ok, I see by your resume that you DON'T have an MCMS (Masters of Cheese Melting Science). I'm afraid you won't be getting THIS burger flipping job anytime soon."

In other words get used to working in a sweat shop. If you or your employer think you can do all of those job functions and still produce decent software and/or systems you and/or they are crazy.

This is a perfect example of how we have gone backwards in this country. There was a time when you could work 8 to 5 and still do well in this country. My dad is a great example. He was able to work as a scientist at IBM from 1960 to retirement. He was able to send 3 kids to college and actually have some money for retirement, get his house paid off and is doing rather well.

Those days are gone. If you're not working 2 jobs you're going to be behind the eight ball. Oh, I forgot to mention that my mom didn't work. I have a friend who would love to stay home with her kids. But the cost of living in New Jersey is so high that she and her husband both have to work.

Look the democrats wanted it this way. They want everyone run ragged so that we will start to believe they can deliver on their empty promises. But to try and white wash the truth that things aren't that bad. Even if people are finding jobs it is because they are taking 20% hit on their salarys. If it takes you 8 months to find a job and you take a 15% decrease that's a lot of dough that you don't have anymore and won't have. If you now have to work longer hours to make that decreased salary the salary is diminished even further. There was a time in this country when people were paid time and a half for working overtime.

What if outsourcing means you can have a job but you can forget a raise anytime soon. I guess you should just feel lucky to have a job. This discussion disgusts me because there are so many sheep who refuse to fight back. It's not just the executives fault, we are letting them give away our jobs. We are letting them cut our salarys. It's crazy.
