"Why are so many willing to by the democrat spin on VP Cheney?"

Yes, I've noticed this is a subtext of the DNC message this week. As I turned on the MTP interview, I caught the local news blurb starting off, and I QUOTE: "Not everyone was happy to see Vice President Dick Cheney visit St. Louis last night, as he was greeted by a group of loud protesters."

The local news is doing the same thing as they did last campaign, the story is never about the visit, its about the gang of union protesters that Dick Gephardt calls out.

Giving speeches vs answering questions are two different things.

Bottomline is Cheney is hurting this President. Get him out to answer questions, not speeches, or get him out of the ticket. We can't afford the price of loyalty to allow a RAT be in the WH in 04.

And let's not forget that it was F-16's of the 147th Fighter Squadron, TXARNG that escorted Air Force One from Florida, to Barksdale AFB to D.C. on Sept. 11th. THey launched from Ellington Field in Houston and joined up with AF One over the Gulf of Mexico.

Yes, thank goodness for Brit Hume. He's been a voice of sanity in a world of spin.

I remember women voting for Clinton because he was "cute" compared to Bush 41.

Well, if we go by that standard in 2004 and Kerry is the nominee against President Bush...who will get elected? Think about it. Do women think John Kerry is "cute?" uh uh, no way, nada, when pigs fly, etc.

Take heart in the Internet, Fox, talk radio ....all are growing, while mainstream media (NYT, LA Times, BBC, Alphabet Networks) has taken some serious blows lately. In audience and credibility. They are not what they used to be in any stretch of the imagination. We'll win in the end.

ams, the closing ***an ex-Republican base voter*** is a [probably lame] attempt to get across to the Repubs the message that they can't take the votes of the base for granted.

I do believe that Bush's chosen path of 'solving' the Illegal Immigrant issue is to openly admit defeat and surrender with dishonor.

I favor pumping $billions more into active border enforcement and the investigation and punishment of employers hiring the illegals as current law dictates. Also the creation of dedicated courts and related facilities to swiftly deal with what would be an increased number of suspected illegals identified, with immediate deportation of the guilty. Once the jobs provided by unscrupulous American employers dried up, the Illegal flood will stop. I will gladly pay 10 cents more for a tomato or onion or head of lettuce, that's a lot less than I'm paying now in increased property taxes.

Demand that Fox seal his side of the border instead of dumping his excess poor into my country.

Will Bush do any of this? No.

I think the President did more than hold his own in Russert's "drip torture" interview. (My IQ exceeds 100)

Do you really think that, or do you feel that in this times it is simply best to show your support?

I am not saying that the latter is bad, it is quite understandable and probably warranted. But if the former is true, then I would have to admit to being surprised.

I have never seen an interview of someone less sure of themselves than during that first 30 minutes.

The questions weren't hard. They were the standard questions that have been discussed for the last 6 months.

I'm just glad that Russert didn't talk about the Buffalo Bills this time. Although perhaps Bush would have faired better with a discussion about football.

Male African-American call-in on CSPAN thought the interview was a "white wash" and that the President should be "more forthcoming" about why we went to war.

Unthinking adherence to what he's been programmed to say imo.

Raising taxes will only lock in the out of control spending policies for future generations,.....

Well said! Do we want to burden the future with manageable debt or crushing confiscatory taxation? Debt beats taxes any day because the collector of the debt must not inhibit the payor of the debt, or its not collectable. The government could care less about the harm it does by over taxation or mis-taxation.

It has often been said that the taller man always wins in U.S. presidential elections, with the shorter man winning only once in the history of the presidency. While this "fact" has been quoted and re-quoted in dozens of newspapers, no one can find the original research. In fact, the exact height isn't known for many US presidents.

Isn't it more important to check a persons RECORD and not the Rhetoric? I vote based on Record. It's the only thing that matters.... Rhetoric or smooth talking aren't worth a doo drop... it's how one Votes, what one Signs, what a man DOES!!!! And this president stands beside the citizens of this country and does his best to protect us.... which, IMO, is the most important job of a President. And he's an honest, decent man.

Sheesh

And thank you for your local report. It is very disheartening to hear a visit like that characterized in the media so.

I agree with you 100%. A Saddam-less, democratic Iraq with strong American backing has changed the Middle East forever. The volitale gases of the ME are blowing way in the clear wind of American power and righteousness. I truly believe we have entered a new era. There may be many pains and agonies (even now, Brian Wilson on Fox News talking about a soldier killed by a IED) but in the long run this war has and will save lives over a more serious, ugly, horrofic war that would have come had we done nothing. Thank you!

"President Bush is hiding "INTEL" from us and mislead us to vote for a "BAD" war."

Ok...as someone who's sitting my butt over here in Baghdad for the last year, plese explain to me how, sitting comfortably in your house 8,000 miles away from the situation, you've come to decide that our President led us into what you call a "Bad War"?

I can't wait for your explanation of this one.
