We CANOT believe this!! Turned on NBC to see the President and got KENNY THE SHARK. They ran MTP an hour earlier than normal so we completely missed it. I have already chewed up and spit out the intern on their answering service. I live in Southern Oregon and I believe this was DELIBERATE!

Bill Clinton was a good speaker.Look what that got us!

Bill Clinton was a good LIAR.

Bush comes off as a guy that does not lie. In this interview he is making his points strongly and earnestly. A no BS guy.

My take on the stammering was that it added to the overall impression -- not glibness.

Totally disagree if there was anything on Libby he would have been gone last summer.

Take a step back from the heat of what appears to be going on now. If Libby did in fact out or anyone else outed a covered person they would not still be in their position.

Unless of course it was a set-up from the get go to get the attention away from what was really going on with "JOE WILSON", of the JFKerry campaign.

The way these liberals are acting is more out of fear, testing to see what they can get people to do and say, knowing full well that in most cases an forthright honest response would reveal classified "INTEL".

I will be totally surprised if Cheney/Libby are involved at all. Remember Rove was the one who was first accused.

Kerry could have known "W" for two years, GW's Freshman and Sophomore years

Except that President Bush says he didn't know Kerry. I believe the President on this one.

Maybe Kerry "knew of" President Bush. The President was a cheerleader and popular.

Probably scoping out a well known family to see if he had a rich sister.

You're right about that. As an interviewer with almost one hour alone with the president ...

But he's going to feel so welcomed and appreciated in and around the beltway, in and among the other 'media elite' during cocktails ...

"Bush is a politician, nothing more. Bill Clinton at heart was more of a conservative."

Surely he was kidding when he said that Peach. No one would mistake Big Dog for a conservative any more than Madeline Murray O'Hare would be mistaken for a Christian.

And besides...Clintoon doesn't HAVE a heart to begine with! LOL!

I expected Russert to do just what he did,and he never lets me down.

Let us see his next interview of Kerry. It will not be this tough.

He did not bring honor to himself with this interview of the President.

History's calling to America? What does that even mean?

If one lives only in the "now," devoid of the knowledge of the past which often provides a perspective on the meaning of how what is done now impacts what happens later, it is easy to see how the significance of Bush's statement can get lost on some here.

Sadly, it appears you are in that camp.

Julian may be the "balanced" part of the Fox logo, but I simply cannot watch the weekend crowd on Fox and Friends. THEY are not my friends...can't stand any of them.

How can I misquote you when the above is what you wrote?

Re: Your Post #545

As smart as I am, sweetheart, it is difficult to read the 545th post before I read the 213th post.

Stop acting like a Klinton Bimbo defining what "is" is! You wrote what you wrote and if you didn't mean it, ok. Just get off my back for what you wrote...

President Bush talks the way he talks. So, maybe he's "plainspoken" --- and the "elite" would "rahthah" he spoke like them: phony, affected speech, pretentious, professorial oratory. I much prefer the down home, confident, straight-talkin' style of President Bush.

"Tim Russert as a "fair" interviewer...he is most definitely a liberal tool of the biased media."

But look....when you ask tough questions it's not like the other person does not have the chance to defend himself, go on the offensive or get tough too. A tough interview is a good opportunity to get your points across and defend yourself. Russert was giving Bush a chance to answer all the tough accuasations against him. I agree with Rush, Russert does a fair interview.

What I find interesting is what Russert didn't touch on because he kept hammering about Iraq and the economy: Immigration, gay marriage, abortion, guns, education, judicial nominees, the Patriot Act; or did I miss something?

No you didn't miss something. That's what I meant.

The "interview" was an attempted hit piece on WMD, and Bush's war record, and a little rip-job on the "terrible" economy he has.

Maybe I'm just sensitive, But I thought, considering the nasty tone of the interview, George scored maybe a C-. He was way too hesitant and defensive. The only time that I remember that shone well was when the slimey Russert told him that he (Bush) was disliked as much in Europe as President Reagan. Bush shot back smartly, "At least I'm in good company." It was a nearly singularly good moment in an ugly hour, ugly thanks to Russert.

But, I see good times ahead when Bush really responds --- check this out.

From a thread the other day --- GWB: HBS MBA --- http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1070924/posts

"By reputation, the President was a very avid and skillful poker player when he was an MBA student. One of the secrets of a successful poker player is to encourage your opponent to bet a lot of chips on a losing hand. This is a pattern of behavior one sees repeatedly in George W. Bush’s political career. He is not one to loudly proclaim his strengths at the beginning of a campaign. Instead, he bides his time, does not respond forcefully, a least at first, to critiques from his enemies, no matter how loud and annoying they get. If anything, this apparent passivity only goads them into making their case more emphatically.

******

By the end of the summer or early autumn the trap may be sprung, and the Democrats and Kerry will be buried. George and Rove are holding his cards. -- (Osama, time to wake up now, everyone wants to see you now!)

That remark about Julian was meant to show that Fox balances by having a liberal on the show. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
