Morning, RC..BTW.happy V day, to ya...have a question...besides our efforts to support the troops through e-mail and packages...it occurs to me that it might be interesting, and valuable, to see if there's any way of developing a list of potential Iraqi penpals..that is, Iraqis who are pro-western, pro-American, and support what we're doing over there...from what I read, internent access over there is booming, and I'm sure there are many who would enjoy corresponding with Americans..obvious question..how can we vet the list, among others...your thoughts?

I think your idea's a very good one. Would you be interested in spearheading it? Keeping a ping list? Iraqis who support our cause (vast majority) as Freepers - imagine what they could do with FR help (and what they'd learn about freedom!).

Most of us (allies in this war) have been following the Iraqi blogs, and IraqPress...w/ contact info at the sight.

I have two Iraqi names on my e-mail list, heads of one of the major organizations pushing for years to liberate Iraq...and they have not responded over the past 6 months, but they have not asked me to remove them from my list, either.

I don't have the time, sorry..but possibly any Freeper who has a regular correspondence with any of our troops over there, might be able to ask if the soldier knew of any local Iraqis over there, possibly those already workign with/for the coalition, might want to have a pen pal...your thoughts?...
