The Democrats have gone after President Bush over his 30 year old National Guard service with a vengeance. It seems to be turnabout's fair play.

LOL.

About three times today I typed a swear word with one letter deleted, only to catch myself at the last second. Don't want to get banned. But just darned...

Stuff like this is what it’s all about. I’m thinking about the possibility that Drudge could be barking after some bogus information – a lead planted by the Kerry Campaign to give them an inoculation for the next, legitimate, scandal eruption (“That? That’s old news, we’re not going to rehash that!”).

I’m stunned that the media can go for so long without any direct reference to this. It’s as though they learned nothing about their initial coverage of the Lewinski matter. In that case – Drudge’s story was not so much Lewinski – but the insider game at Newsweak, the story of their spiking of the Isikoff story. You often get to the real guts via this kind of derivative entrée.

I love the attempt of the Democrats to label Drudge a “right wing” site. Even if you label Drudge’s opinion right wing – his column is only a single link – maybe in some instances 2 or 3 links on a page with hundreds of links to the work of other journalists and other organizations. Calling this repository of links to a broad cross section of sources “right wing” shows they really do not know of which they speak.

I know, I just get so po'ed at reporters, hoping that one day they will be called on the carpet and it never happens.

And don't most of 'em claim the reason they wanted to be 'journalists' was 'I want to make a difference'? Well, they sure are, as long as it fits the agenda of their buddies, the liberals. The thought of what is best for our country, never seems to enter most of their minds.

correct. and if the story is untrue, or impossible to substantiate, Kerry could easily spin this into a positive for himself. I am feeling more and more like this is a setup.

Just like the press knew who was leaking to THEM about what was going on in the grand jury, but dutifully reported the charges that it was the evil Starr.

The only way this is going to hurt is if the broad...er, intern sells her story to the highest bidder. But as I said earlier, Kerry has probably bought her off as the highest bidder already. Just what we need...another president capable of being blackmailed....

Drudge claimed that several prominent news organisations in Washington have been investigating the rumours. But some of those named denied this.

Ye of little faith. Rather than accept the obvious, I guess it is easier to develop all kinds of conspiracy theories that a deus ex machina (read Dems) is controlling events as part of some grand scheme.

Of course, the Dems are trying to dismiss it as a Right Wing smear job. They did the same thing with Clinton's dalliance with Monica. It worked until the facts came out. Let's see how Kerry handles it. Will he use the Clintonian "I did not have sex with that woman" or will he just say that he will not dignify such allegations with a reply,i.e., be ambiguous enough so if the facts do come out, he can not be accused of lying. Kerry is a master spinner, I just hope there is a blue dress.

Serial monogamists have a tendancy to experiment off and on with viable and non-viable candidates for the next legal mate.

Be that as it may, I expect this to dry up and blow away. It just doesn't matter to his core supporters. It might keep the Deaniacs alive a little longer but I don't think it will amount to anything in the long run. As a member of the vast-right-wing-conspiracy myself, I think the truth of the matter is that the center won't believe it, the left doesn't care, and the right isn't going to be changed by it in any way. A null input across the board.

But wait....I have an idea. What if the AP (friend of intern) staffer that Drudge reports in his story has befriended Drudge? Just what if she's willing to sing like a lark? (I hope she's taking her personal security more seriously these days.) Perhaps she's ready to release evidence (letters, photos, phone tapes, etc.) ala Linda Tripp? Or perhaps we only have to wait for Time Mag to come out with their story.....

but what exactly is the "story"? there needs to be more then just a relationship: sex in exchange for a job, a payoff to keep silent, abortion. an affair alone just isn't going to cut it.

Oh, I dunno....I think one truth about an affair by Kerry is worth about five lies that the libs will make up about Bush.

I just can't be. Kerry is riding the highest crest of his career at this moment, it would be insane for him to get sidetracked on something like this right now. It's absolutely dirty tricks by rival Dems, most probably with Lehane responsible somewhere. But the GOP will get blamed. Let's be patient, folks; lots of intrigue going on.
