America's economy hangs by a thread while Cuba -- after four decades under a U.S. economic blockade -- continues to offer free health care and boasts an infant mortality rate lower than its northern neighbor, President Fidel Castro asserted early Saturday.

You have to wonder, does Castro really believe this shite? In other words: liar or idiot?

No, Sr. Castro it hasn't broken Cuba, and neither have you. Unfortunately the embargo hasn't broken your rule, but God will do you in eventually as he does to us all.

My advice: REPENT!

strategy idea. Drop the embargo, Flood cuba with cheap ( I mean like heavily subsidized) consumer goods. Show the cubans what castro has denied then the last 35 years. That will be the end for him.

Castro also took shots at President Bush, saying he "couldn't debate a Cuban 9th-grader."

Maybe so, but at least he can take criticism from one without throwing him in a prison camp.

No problem Fidel. You don't need to thank us for the cash vouchers of filthy
Yankee dollars that sent by your ex-pats to make sure their relatives (that you keep captive)
won't starve to death.

Castro: U.S. embargo hasn't broken Cuba

Hey Fidel, there's nothing left to break after decades of your homicidal ego trip.

People don't risk their lives on rickety rafts across 90 miles of shark-infested waters for the hell of it. They have good reason to flee.

So, d'ya think the Diaz-Balart brothers sit around debating which of them should be president of Cuba when Castro's gone?

Just wondering.

Castro's been in power for what, 45 year? The Cuban people have suffered, but it's clear, Castro won.

"The great difference" between Cuba and the United States is that Cuba "has learned to do a lot with very little."

Before Castro, Cuba didn't have to make do with very little.

"Drop the embargo, Flood Cuba with cheap ( I mean like heavily subsidized) consumer goods."

Cuba has tons of consumer goods, but Castro will not allow those goods to be made available to the people.

The problem with all the "drop the embargo" ideas, is that they fail to realize that Castro controls the market, so dropping the so-called embargo does not translate into free commerce with the people of Cuba.

What dropping the embargo will bring about, is an unholy alliance between Castro and US industry.

US industry is always looking for a cheap source of labor, and Castro is well-versed in using the people of Cuba as his own, personal slave force.

You drop the "embargo", you create that situation, you create that situation, you make it possible for Castro, and his successors, to remain in power forever.

The Diaz-Balart brothers are American citizens serving their constituents in the US Congress.

Why would they be discussing the possibilities of becoming president of a foreign nation?

The US embargo hasn't taken Castro off power because the US restrictions haven't been fully implemented.

DemocRATS' softening stand towards Castro's dictatorship has hurt Cuba and other Latin American countries more than it has helped.
