It isn't amnesty. Keep in mind that the Democrats probably told the Mexicans that it was and that is why they are coming.

Also, I'm for the prescription drug program. I'm getting near retirement and I don't want to have to pay the exhorbitant drug prices. My max dollars out of pocket is $1,300 for LIFE and that includes if I get some lifelong disease.

Right now I pay for lots of Democrat welfare and get zero (nada , zilch) for that money.

wouldn't you rather have had the money you paid into for Medicare/Medicaid etc. and invest it and pay for it yourself that way by the time you are elderly you can pay for it yourself and have a little more for something else. People should have the choice if they want those benefits, they shouldn't be robbed by the Government for something I might not use.

That's why I'm so glad to see Medical Savings Accounts as part of President Bush's Medicare Reform.
It will save me at least $700 annually.

You missed the point...I am already elderly. And I've paid taxes all my life and social security benefits and got zero for it. I've never collected unemployment. I've been employed since I was 21.

The government has done nothing for me. So now that I'm old, I don't want to lose all I have to pay a hospital bill. With this new prescription plan, I do not have to fear a long-term illness and the high cost of drugs. I only have to hold back $1,300 to pay for drugs. After that, 100%.

This plan makes sense. You aren't paying for me. I paid for myself over all the years the government did nothing for me.

Ironically, we also have a large contingent of spite voters here on FR. To wit:

a) immigration
b) limiting federal spending
c) education
d) prescription drugs
e) the trade deficit
f) outsourcing jobs
g) my pet issue du jour
h) whatever other people are complaining about
i) all of the above

Considering how rampant it is around here, it's not surprising to see it there.

The elderly is the wealthiest segment of the population. 75% of them already have drug coverage. The free-drugs-for-granny-bill should be for the truly needy only.

When I am, I want this prescription drug program available to me. I do not want to wipe out my life's savings with one illness.

I think you are forgetting the millions of grannies and grandpas (many of whom fought for your freedom) that deserve not to be wiped out by high medical costs.

Why do we have high medical costs? Not because of what granny and grandpa did. You can that the lawyers like John Edwards and the doctors who overcharge for their services.
