Be nice...trial lawyers are hardly at fault for all that...bad as they are.
Mississippi's poverty is directly related to having the largest proportional black population by far in the nation and their historical trend for such since emancipation.
We can debate the hows and whys of that for volumes.
It is also at the same time arguably one of the most culturally conservative states there is and that is worth quite a bit. I miss that.

Mississippi's massive poverty is directly caused by exploitation of the good citizens of the Magnolia State by an entrenched, wealthy, corrupt lawyer elite.
No business in their right mind would locate to liability friendly Mississippi. Obstetricians and trauma care docs have been run out of the state by the shysters and their judges.
I hope Governor Barbour is capable of reform. The problem is that the Republicans are just as corrupt as the rats in Mississippi, so I wouldn't hold my breath for more tort reform.
