"Former President Carter says Americans generally oblivious to suffering elsewhere in the world." Great headline! If Jimmah is right, it's because we are still recovering from the four years of suffering having him in the White House. Perhaps Mistah Cartah could empty his fat wallet down the sinkhole of every poor socialist nation in the world whose pain he feels so intensely (which obviously caused his infamous inflammation of the a.. that we had to hear about, ugh)

I agree that we Americans are mostly indifferant to other countries poverty...just go to El Paso and see even how people live down there, let alone across the river...
but Demonrats are the biggest evil of all when it comes to the wealthy screwing the people....
the wealthiest people are some of the most ME FIRST people ever...
they think they are entitled to having their dozen BMW's and their 8 houses, and their lavish lifestyles, but boy, do they think Joe and Jill Sixpack need to stop having any life whatsoever and just give, give, give to the govt.....
Phonies....all Demonrats are phonies ...

He got beat up by a rabbit. For younger Freepers present, I'm not kidding. The man really got beat up by a rabbit, and the rabbit was swimming in a pond. I swear.

I'd like to add that for once I would love the limosine liberal trash to be in the shoes of the hard-working commoners that they love to belittle...
just for once, I would love the Jimmy Carters', the Barbara Streisands, the J.Effin Kerry's and the Soros's and the rest of their ilk to have to worry about how to afford college for their kids, how to find the money for insurance and car troubles and for food for the table..
If any of them ever had to live in the real world, their tune would change...

"Carter is so morally superior to mere mortals. I suspect he might be divine." If not divine, at least sanctimonious.

B...but Jimmy only got $8 million from his publisher when he left the WH. Don't know what Rosalyn got for her book, but it sure wasn't peanuts. He lives off the fat of the land...gets praised by the general dumb public for Habitat for Humanity...why doesn't he give Habitat what's left of the $8 million? That would house a goodly number of the poor. He's just another RAT talking out of both sides of his hypocritical mouth and taking money under the table.

If Carter will take a vow of poverty, divest himself of all worldly possessions, forgo all the comforts afforded him by our society, then I will listen. Without a doubt Carter is among the worlds biggest hypocrites.

I wonder if he is counting what Americans do through private means, or only comparing government assistance. If the government doesn't do it, it doesn't exist. Gee, haven't you been reading? :)

Does anyone pay any attention to this man who could have been a president?
