The Governator would be fine, but who knows what can of worms may be opened down the line?

"Could Arnold Schwarzenegger become president of the United States?"

Of course not. He was not born in the United States.

When I was a child I dreamed of being President (when I was 5 I could name all the Presidents in order). When my father informed my I could not become President because I was not native born, I was crushed. This is spite of the fact that both my parents are native born but happened to be working out of the country for a few years.
I learned to deal with the disapointment instead of trying to change things to suit me. I wish more would learn this lesson.

Life imitating art.

Anyone remember seeing that Stallone movie "Demolition Man?"
In the movie Stallone's character wakes up in the future to find out the constitution had been amended to allow foreign born citizens to run for president, specifically Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Excuse me but I think I hear the Twilight Zone music playing in the background...

"Madeleine Albright"?

That's not something that I would want on my resume.

The guy hasn't been governor long enough to get his seat warm in Sacramento and the media is already hawking him as presidential material??? Puuulllezzzzzz...We had one Austrian dictator and ya saw how that worked out. I don't think we'll need another one for a few hundred years. ROFLMAO Could we at least get one balanced budget out of "Wonder Boy" before we talk about amending the Constitution of the United States! http://www.noblankchecks.com

He's naturalized and ineligible. There is no reason to change that provision of the US Constitution. If we did, Jacques Chirac or Kofi Annan could run for president of the US the next time around.

The advantage of a requirement for US birth is an acculturation to US society....and with it (hopefully) an allegiance to our way of life and government.

Before this is even considered, there are a few "loose ends" to clear up - like allowing dual citizenship, running for office or voting in a foreign election. Mexico comes to mind, but there are probably others.

You're either American, or you ain't - not American and . . .

Hyphenated Americans have hyphenated loyalties.

NEVER should a foreign citizen become the president of the United States...even after 20 years.

Think about it folks...some terrorist cells have been in the United States for over 8 years....in 12 more years, they could run for President.

Schwarzenegger is as dishonest and venal a politician as Clinton ever was. The problem is that the public, and even a good many freepers, have yet to figure it out.

the name most often mentioned as someone who might be unleashed by the Hatch amendment is Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, a Canadian-born Democrat. She moved to California at four with her family, was raised in the San Francisco Bay area and attended UC Berkeley.

That should disqualify her on at least 3 counts.

Questions for the citizenship legal experts:

a) If a US citizen working for the US government, or just visiting, in another country gives birth while there, is the child now a US citizen and eligible to run for President?

b) If a citizen of another country working or visiting in the US gives birth while here, is the child now a US citizen and eligible to run for President?

No person except a natural-born citizen ... shall be eligible to the office of president."

If anyone in Washington makes a serious move to change the Constitution to override this provision...I personally will take up arms or leave the country since it won't matter where you live anymore.

Just think! President Omar Al-Sahd! Has a nice ring to it, no?
