Yeah, I know. That's why the most likely successful strategy would be to wrap the liability protection bill up in some omnibus package with a bunch of other stuff. Then they can tell their constituents, "I voted to extend the AWB, and it failed. I voted against the liability protection, and it was defeated. Then those lousy pro-gunners attached the liability protection bill to the Omnibus Bill For Mom and Apple Pie of 2004, and I had no choice. Sorry, but I did my best."

Ok,

I have always understood that point...I did not mean to appear not to know that particular angle to this issue...

I have a question for you then...

Have you ever been sued???

If so you do realize that you do have the option (if you have good representation) to counter that lawsuit, mearly on the basis of defemation, slander, liable...etc etc...

And you can counter with an abstract amount as to the amount of funds used to take up the time of a court for that matter...

So if there are concerted efforts of individuals, organizations or "special interests" groups underwriting these lawsuits...Seems to me its only fair to throw the risk right back in their lap...

We've seen it work time and time again on other issues...Why does this one only have to be defended...Go on the counter-offensive...

I think there's a bottom to the pockets of people like Soros and McKelvey...And to implicate them in this concerted effort to destroy a fundemental rights of others...

Well I hate to close with a cliche, but what the hell...

Its like they pulled the trigger themselves...

I think you illustrate a good reason for the need to protect the industry...I just thinks its sad that we have to have legistlation to do so...Because we know some courts feel they are above the law anyway, and will probably continue to legistlate from the bench anyway...

Later,
Steve

This is a huge GOP victory. The AWB will time out.

Sorry Owen, but I don't see it as "huge". Manufacturer's are at still at risk, and you can bet we'll see them in a class action lawsuit before the next inaguration ceremony. I'll admit it is a minor win - this battle only for Bush - because he just avoided further alienation of conservative gun owners. The AWB sunset isn't certain yet. The GOP leadership - particularly Frist, still looks like a complete idiot to gun owners. He was incredibly silent on this when he had an opportunity to lead, rally, and truly point out the differences between conservatism and the current brand of Kennedy/Schumer/Feinstien/Clinton/Lautenberg/Boxer et. al. communism. He's not alot more than another AMA Physician who at heart thinks guns are bad - at least that is what his lack of leadership points out to me.

We've got RINO's running rampant during an election year when the last thing conservative voters want to see is their elected senators hitching their wagons to the aforementioned liberal jackasses. Frist should be cracking skulls and reminding them what happened in 1994.

You are right - at least our President didn't have this flaming bag of dog turds land on his porch.

Ammunition Restriction Study This amendment, offered by Senators Bill Frist (R-TN) and Larry Craig (R-ID), passed the Senate 85-12. Among other things, the language of this provision would commission the Attorney General to determine whether the ban on so-called "cop killer" ammunition should include superior performance bullets in popular hunting calibers such as the 30-06.

Eaker...one of my customers is Hornady Manufacturing in Grand Island, Nebraska - and they are absolutely worried about this week's events - particularly this amendment. You can bet this one will pop up like a bad case of herpes on some other bill.

Nebraska introduced one at the same time. That may pass.

I don't think it will see the light of day in 2004, as there are less than 30 days left in the legislative session for this year in Nebraska (which is amazing in itself - these hogs at the public trough don't spend alot of time in the Capitol conducting the People's Business) - and it's not a "priority" bill. When it does come up for consideration - IF we can beat the anticipated filibuster - it'll be a close vote - but it's probably not going to be until this time next year at the earliest.

recently passed term limits are going to be having an impact - to the extent that over 80% of existing state legislators will be replaced over the next 6 years. The good news is that it'll impact alot of the enemies of freedom.

What's up with this? Does this mean that AWB will finally sunset for good?

I think we are getting real close now, if the senate couldn't even do it. It'll try to be attached to more stuff, poison pill it to death, but I think the fear level can be reduced.

"Out here in Cali, our AWB won't sunset."

Yeah, I've really been wanting an AR-15 lately (BANNED in Cali, even though it's only semi-auto).

Well, looks like I've only got about another a year and a half left in Cali ;) .

But hey, at least 56 got voted down, California's not COMPLETELY screwed I guess...
