Are Coasties subject to the UCMJ?

Yes, the United States Coast Guard is a branch of the Armed Forces. They aren't under the DoD because of their federal law enforcement responsibilities and the unique nature of their missions; but they go to war like the rest.

Perhaps because of their roles and missions, the Coast Guard is a little more sensitive to certain issues then the other services. For instance, if an active duty Coastie did this but used his name only, no mention of the service, nothing would probably be said (but they would find their job taking a sudden turn for very unpleasant duties until discharge), however, by using "Coast Guard" in this the person has crossed a serious line.
