Ah, but look what happened with Joe Wilson and Joe Wilson's wife. The WH players were in Africa when that broke. They didn't respond meaningfully, and when they did, it looked like butt-covering was going on. The WH wasn't in campaign mode last summer. Now they are; watching Rice go at this guy with a bayonet tells you the difference between now and then.

Rove and his people know that if you trot out Rice to answer charges, the Networks have to cover her, no matter how much the nets want to flog the Clarke book. That's why this morning's contest between Rice and Clarke was so important to have happened.

Sorry, but someone needs to tell Prince John of Beacon Hill that there will be no free rides this year.

Good points Chris. I do know that my local rag, (The Montgomery Advertiser (Alabama), is owned by Gannet, and loves to include stories by Knight-Ritter, USA Today, AP, and Reuters bringing up charges against Bush et al, and then never, ever print a story opposing said releases. I will write them, but they have yet to print one of my letters. When they print a pro-Bush letter, the writer generally comes off as a yahoo redneck. Maybe I should write in that style?
