WE HAVE A PROBLEM.
The Dems have arranged book publication as part of the campaign. Clarke was a nobody. No one had heard of him. The Dems orchestrated the invitation from the commission -- probably through a Dem member of the commission -- and also orchestrated the coordination with the publication schedule.
We must not let this happen again. Book Publication lets them define the news cycle. Authors are invited to come on TV and talk about their accusations and then suddenly it becomes news to say "The White House once again came under fire from a new book and its author who says . . . .
It's an excellent Dem tactic and it needs a counter.
Rove needs to be inside the various publishers to see what is coming next. And where are our own books in transit?
At this point, long after Hillary's book has passed out of the limelight, is it possible to get honest figures on how many copies it sold?
At the time of publication they seemed to be saying it sold a million copies on the first day (or some such drivel) but I saw it remaindered everywhere almost immediately.
I would think that the truth could be hidden by the marketing department for a while, but that eventually the accountants have to fess up to some real numbers. Or maybe not -- Enron accounting still goes on, I guess.
