Noone looks out for the U.S. pilots who got laid off as result of the attacks for instance and had to try switching careers.

I'm sorry for them -- but I'm also sorry for me and the fact that my employer folded not long after 9/11 (an indirect consequence), that my field dried up and I've had to retrain and acquire new skills for a new career. Am I entitled to gubmint money, too???

What you may not realize is that diseases such as asbestosis take many years to appear. No one really knows what was in that dust and smoke.

And I will bet that the more MONEY that is pumped into this situation, the greater the "epidemic" will be. Give people an incentive to be sick and guess what, they will be.

My friend was close enough to one of the collapsing towers to get a nice round hole in his back from a flying hunk of metal.

He got that stitched right up. Now he has a scar on his back, and no complaints about his lungs.
