The Democrats think that they can rebuild Kerry's image if he just shuts up. Your comment is very close to my thinking. Kerry is really uncomfortable mingling with people. His arrogance prohibits him from being comfortable. You can see he is more comfortable talking from a podium, as he offers his benediction to the unwashed. He now will have an excuse for not having to mix with lower forms than he. Elective surgery is just that--elective. There is really no reason why he has to have it done right now, except that he wants to, to avoid rope lines.
