Well, whatever they are now is different than 30 years ago, and most certainly different around the time the area now know as Mexico was settled.

Brazil was overwhelming black and white 30 years ago, and it is today. You may think that Brazilians and Mexicans look alike, but let me assure you are in the vast minority. Both Brazil and Mexico had Indians prior to European colonization, but the Brazilian indian population has been largely absorbed into the population while Mexico indian heritage is very present today.
