Jeepers! What spoilsports! People don't want to buy the whole mag just for one article. Besides, if these sour grapes people put their news online, then there should be no qualifiers. Thanks for the consolidated list though.

The Washington Post requires your life story for its "free" registration. You tell them the truth??? I always put in the wrong sex, my brother's birthday, my sister's zip code....

I thought they were good questions - mostly I wondered if FR was getting singled out and other sites were posting with impunity....haven't gotten any answers yet, though.

I don't see anyone mentioning the DMCA, which is a whole different ballgame from copyright law.
Posting an entire article has always been a copyright violation, so far as I know. Particularly if it's done all the time. It can hardly be called fair use if it causes economic harm.
However, I don't understand the restriction on the second list. You can't link in those sites at all? I don't think even the DMCA has been used for that restriction yet.
First post, so apologies if I've addressed it incorrectly.

I guess the concept of a "free press" escapes these idiots.
Don't they know they get more hits? More clicks to ads? Are they so short-sighted they just can't grasp the Internet yet?
Copyright is all but moot when it comes to links and posts. What's funny is that EVERY SINGLE ONE of these whiners (okay, almost every one) have an "e-mail this article" option on their own site.
So what's the difference other than they are left wing a-holes that just can't stand their crap being torn apart in forums like this?

I think most of these people have been looking the other way for all these years. Your guess is as good as mine as to why they've all suddenly decided to go hard ass on us (and all at the same time, LOL).

They are grouping together for the same reason the last remnants of the hard core terrorist from Iran, Syria and left-over Saddam Ba'athist have circled their wagons in the Sunni Triangle.
It's desperation. Their last act of control they think they have because they are getting slammed not only here, but I'll bet FReepers are also e-mailing them, calling them, writing them, etc.
We should call them the Al-PissedOff!

You know, looking at that list, there are quite a few "small time" newspapers on there, so you KNOW someone is over here taking down names of every newspaper that we've used in posts!!! Doesn't the DU deserve the same??
To: ladyinred; All
Oh I am so sure none of this is personal! Nope, no politics involved at all! I canceled Vanity Fair magazine! I don't want their trash if this is the way they feel. Your post gave me an idea. I'm always getting calls from the Chicago Tribune to subscribe to their paper. From now on I will tell them that in no way would I subscribe since they banned FR from using news from their paper. Maybe we should write to these individual papers that are in each of our areas. I will write to the Chicago Tribune since I'm in it's readership zone. If we all do that, they may think twice!!!
To: Jim Robinson
I posted about this on the Illinois board. I've already written to the Chicago Tribune. If each of us posts this on their state board & gets members there to write their local papers, we can start our own movement!! Hope it helps. If anyone would like to send out this idea to a ping list, feel free.

He does not post full text, nor does he retain any articles of full text - he only links.

Thanks for the flag. I've got the picture. The damnable news sites don't want a history of their manipulative stories anywhere but on their site. They can suck hind tit as far as I'm concerned. I'll save stories of interest on my own as far as that's concerned. Sue me. I give a rats as*. Can't suck blood from a turnip.
