The general commanding four loyalist columns moving on Madrid during Spain's civil war (1936-39) referred to his militant supporters within the capital as his "fifth column."

Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union maintained fifth columns in the United States. These were groups of secret sympathizers, sleeper cells, or supporters of an enemy that engage in espionage or sabotage, or simply disinform about the attacker's intentions.

Muslims need to be treated like the Communists and Communist sympathizers of the last Century. They need to be kept out of the country. But if they are citizens and already here, they need to be constantly monitored because their loyalties are greatly suspect.

Islam is a religion completely alien to political freedom and the concept of individual civil rights and will assault our Constitution and way of life if given the opportunity to succeed.

If not stopped, it will destroy us just as surely as Communism ever hoped.

And Fifth columnist are better spread than during Cold War. From prisons, innercity slums to media, Harvard Univesrsity and The State Department.
