Even Clinton couldn't take responsibility for his own actions. When he wagged his finger at the camera and uttered those words, he looked like he was angry at all of us Republicans and Democrats because he got caught with his pants down around his ankles like anklewarmers. He might have been crafty and slick, but he's not smart enough to point that crooked finger inward, say I'm sorry for draggin' y'all through the mud like this at a time like this. But alas, he's an empty vessel drifting in the sea of ex-presidential failure with Carter.

Well, everybody has made mistakes over the past 2 and a half years, but I think his answer proved his smarts under the pressure of that question.

I'd like to see more of the message of resolve in the War on Terror, but maybe he understands that I, like most Americans, already own that resolve and just need to stay on the offense, be alert, and support our troops.

The media portrays it as though Iraq was a mistake. There's nothing wrong with picking up the foreign policy tin can on the side of the road Clinton kept kicking along for 8 years. The Democrats in Washington and the lamestream press don't like leadership and "getting the job done"? Tough.

"...and if one political party seems to be hell bent on exporting their jobs, signing contracts with any government which will take the jobs from the Americans, then those people tend to vote for the opposite party"

The problem with your response is that political parties do not export jobs. Companies export jobs. The American people know that Pres. Bush is not forcing the GOP to move jobs overseas. And if they have that inclination, then Bush can bring up the Heinz factories! Some of the major communications/tech companies that are exporting jobs are big Dem supporters!

Finally getting all the way thru this thread -- watching Leno start of with talk about the press conference (though it hadn't occurred when the show was taped). Most of the anti-Bush jokes fell flat with the audience, not much applause at all. Only one or two Kerry jokes -- not much response there either. Best laughter came with a joke about Paula Jones!

Well, first, I think I've been clear that I'm looking to get a stop put to people being thrown out of work in favor of foreign workers who are serving this country in our place at fractions of our pay rates. I didn't "lose" my job in the strictest sense, it is being given to somoene in another country. Id didn't go obsolete, it still exists. And it was called competition - but I wasn't invited to compete and couldn't because I can't make a living on sub poverty wages here - neither can you.

As far as recommendation letters, I have proof of performance in way of copies of my confidential performance reviews. Letters of recommendation are great and good; but, I'm not sure what point you're making in that regard I must say. They go with well crafted resume's. Walmart and McDonalds don't need resume's and that's about all there is around here. So, while we're being sheepishly nice. I'll now ambush you the way you tried to ambush me.

You have made a big issue of your "terminal" illness. Since the only illness you have admitted to is emphysema I thought I would ask you in private as one who also suffers from it a couple of questions. You say you are young. How young. You say it is terminal, what is your FEV1. If you have emphysema you also are very familiar with that term and you know the number. Emphysema has a mortality rate of between 5 to 10 years from diagnosis to death and the vast majority are diagnosed in their late 50s. I will keep this private if you answer these questions. I will also cut you some slack in the open forum because the disease is a very bad one but your posts have not convinced me that you are telling the truth. If you don't answer then I will ask you in the open forum since you have made it an open issue in almost every post you make.

Now, do you recognize your letter here? I don't have my fEV1 number in my head or on paperwork; but, I'm sure if you have to have it, I can make a call to the doctor's office and get the test results. My copies burnt when my house went up. I've not needed to know that information despite what you've said because I haven't changed doctors in the last 4 years since the diagnosis. And if you know anything about what you're talking about, it isnt critical to know those numbers until the symptoms arise to warrant progressive treatments. So far, I've been lucky and have only had need of an inhaler that I can carry in my pocket. I'm also aware it normally doesn't hit in one's 30s - I'm 35. I know one other person who has it in her 40s and is in worse shape than I am in shorter time. My elasticity is still fairly good; but, I've begun feeling it in my upper back and lower sides in the past year. Massages help, but don't make it go away. Need any more for now or do I call the doc tomorrow and get the elasticity score you're asking for in order not to pommel the hell out of me for whatever reason you think you're justifying.

Since you're poking around for something to burn me with, you can go look up the handicap too - Congenital Nestagmus. Not a registered handicap that I can get a plate for and don't need one as it happens cause I can't drive a car. I can at least drive a motorcycle for now - that's good 5 months a year. I didnt' make a big issue of it. I mentioned it as part of my story, just like my house burning down is part of the story - need citation for that? You'll have to call either the park I lived in or the local firehouse cause the newspaper didn't see profit in printing it. Need that information or do you want to threaten me over that first. I'll pause for 5 minutes here and pretend I gave you the chance to threaten me - feel better?

Sorry to say, I have nothing to hide here; but, this is beneath contempt. Something I've come more and more to expect from you people.

Whining and hand-wringing is such an embarrassing thing to watch, Havoc.

But he's so good at it.

If only it was a paying job.

Naaa, it would only get outsourced to Mexico. LOL

For "MY" employment problems? I didn't have a *problem* till his policy made it ok for 50 cent a day labor in China and 1/3 my wage rate in Mexico to compete with me and be called "fair".

Right. So according to you Bush should have ordered Govt control of American companies dictating where they can or cannot hire people in the world, and furthermore dictate to American people that they must pay higher prices for goods to support people like you who feel God has entitled them to the jobs they want at the salary they demand.

Welcome to the REAL world.

For who? I haven't seen it yet.. but I keep hearing that. Does rasing your standard of living mean taking your 30k job and replacing it with whatever you can find. Most are flipping burgers or stocking shelves now at 12-16k a year. From middle class to poverty - must be a new definition for the word "raising".

"the press corp deserved it. "

The heck with the press corp. The president did fine as far as I am concerned. Made his points and yeah, he did not apologize--imagine that?!!

Whining and hand wringing, no, fighting for something I and a lot of other republicans believe in - not screwing people for profit and saying it's good for them.

Then you don't have a terminal illness. That is all I wanted to know. If you have quit smoking your disease progression should be about normal after 4 years and your life expectancy is about where it would be had you never smoked. I am happy that you are not at deaths door.

Again, it wasn't my actions. You want to blame me for what was done to me. You blame my coworkers for what is being done to them. That's blaming the victim for the rape. I take responsibility for my actions. I wasn't invited to the negotiation. It was done in all our absence and is being denied by the corporate office publicly even now. I have been given the two dates on which each half of our operation will be taken and given to mexicans. You guys are shameless.

You are sooooo wrong--people want an honest man--what worth is a man who can speak smoothly and concisely but has no character? What good is that man? Sounds like you miss Clinton.

But both parties negociate and sign government type treaties --- some 30,000 pages long! like NAFTA, CAFTA, and GATT which are for the purpose of sending jobs from America to other countries.

Not really. I just didn't realize that amidst so many people who claim compassion before conservatism that it meant beating up the woman after the rape for daring to protest having been raped. I mean, if I were to define compassion, that sort of thing wouldn't come to mind.
