Why not????

We already learn about how Cleopatra was black and watch movies about female gun slingers of the west. I think such a lesson belongs in every classroom right after we celebrate Quansa and read the story "My Two Dads" to the kids.

Just an opinion.

...that all religions are united because Jesus Christ himself was a Muslim, as were Moses and Abraham...

Insanity. Be afraid, be very afraid. Islam wants to devour the world, and erase all vestiges of non-Islam religion, history, etc., from the planet. *Shudder*

Do you suppose that our great “fiend” Saudi Arabia, which is funding all that Islamic propaganda allows us to put such material in their text books or libraries. Who is the bitch in the American Saudi relation?

Teachers too ill-educated to know the difference, too cowardly to speak out, or merely silenced by the NEA.

Well; That might explain the devolution of the indigenous humans who eventually became the savages we met.
I always wondered why I have an utter disdain for those useless cultures.

If that's criteria, then Jews discovered America

I heard Columbus was a Jew who was given the ships to sail on his mission in order to avoid the Spanish Inquisition.

I took the time to read much of the report, focusing on the section regarding the efforts in Mass. Either the parents up there are asleep at the wheel or on board with this charade, either way "Boston, we have a problem."

I looked into this several years ago as part of my geneaological studies in my home state of Virginia. At the time, I had no idea of the political ramifications of what I was finding. One bit of "evidence" I read about was that someone claimed a Native American tribe in VA wore fez hats much like those worn today in Morocco. However, there IS evidence that Arabs could have preceeded Columbus. Chris found the rotted hull of a ship on one of the islands (I forget which) that looked like the design of an Arab vessel (I forget its name). One source I read said that Samuel Morison, eminent American and Columbus historian, had mentioned it in his writing. And so he did. He rather dismissed it, but he did note that Columbus mentioned it in his writing.

So, yes, Arabs may have preceded Columbus. I personally don't think its all that significant because I think there is evidence here that lots of people preceded Columbus. But it was Columbus who was fortunate enough to get here after the invention of the printing press and who was insightful enough to grasp the enormity of what he found to do something about it--begin settlements.

One of the ironies of history is that the Jews were thrown out of Spain when Columbus first sailed for America. I believe the las Jews left the same day CC did. I've read a fair amount about CC being Jewish. I don't buy the arguments, but there are some interesting ones out there. The most convincing one I read is that we actually don't know all that much about CC's background and childhood. And there's more than one family with a Christopher Columbus and other family members with the names of CC's. The other one had a lot of Jewish contacts. I know from my own genealogical studies that one of the most challenging things to do is to make certain that the names and families I find in the records is actually mine. It's sometimes much more difficult than you might imagine. I have not personally looked into the archival evidence about CC and his background, so I have no idea how credible these arguments are.

It's like reading a Soviet book for school children.

All the major discoveries were made by scientists from the Soviet Union and satellite countries, according to the old Soviet textbooks.

It seems surreal to us, but it was the norm in those days. Propaganda works.

Veronica,

These are vile lies.

Everyone knows that the Norse were the first to discover America :-)

A Native American tribe has forced distributors of an Arab studies guide for American teachers to remove an inaccurate and absurd passage that Muslim explorers preceded Columbus to North America, and eventually became Algonquin chiefs named Abdul-Rahim and Abdallah Ibn Malik!

A lie told often enough becomes the truth.

Unfortunately, this is standard practice amongst liberals and muslims today.

I don't know either, but I do believe that any country who throws out the Jewish citizens is headed downhill. In the case of Spain, the New World obviously helped Spain become a world power for many years, but they did finally head down hill once the plundering ran its course. (Germany may have been a far stronger power if they had not killed or driven out their Jewish population.)

But as far as revision of history to give the New World to the muslims. (Ha Ha Ha...)

While the Algouquin Arabs sound like a Blazing Saddles outtake there is nothing inherently absurd in the notion that some Arabs made it to the western Hemisphere before 1492. Little as I like the Arabs one has to acknowledge that thier progress as mariners was astounding. From being camel jockeies they already were familiar with using the stars to navigate across the 'dry ocean' of the Arabian desert. When after conquering Syria and Egypt they were introduced to sailing vessels and ocean voyaging they enthusiastically took to the sea and became the boldest sea raiders since the Vikings. People who raided (often) as far north as Iceland for slaves and had a regular commerce across the Indian Ocean could easily have reached the Americas at some time. However, the long overocean voyage, rough seas and difficulty of hauling any unfortunate Indians back as slaves would all militate against this being any more than an exploratory mission that determined the western lands weren't good pickings for the faithful.
