There is nothing headier than the brew of self-righteousness and an open license to break things. It explains much of the twentieth century.

Can't argue with your thoughts, especially since I believe the Constitution bars "cruel and unusual" punishments.

On the other hand, I'd happily see the justice system make an example of him, and at least saddle him and his buddies with criminal (felony) records that could forever prevent them from expressing their lunatic-fringe notions in the voting booth....

"I didn't really understand politics, but I remember rooting for [Al] Gore because he didn't want to destroy Alaska," he said. "That difference with [George W.] Bush really made an impression on me."

We are raising yet another generation of monsters. A broken educational system, apathetic parents, wholesale administration of "antidepressants" and years of leftist indoctrination result in an astonishingly stupid populace, only capable of sound-bite philosophy of complex issues. There's no attention span with many of our youth, not to mention adults. I can't even watch many TV programs these days, they flit from scene to scene in just seconds. The most this kid (at University, no less) can stuff into his brain is "Bush wants to destroy Alaska." The Bolsheviks did their homework I guess.

you must be part of the group of people that think jumping to conclusions is advancing an idea.

In prison, many things like cigarettes and jobs are traded just as sex is traded. If you see anything that suggests sex in my post that is in your mind not mine. I have volunteered on behalf of prisons ministries so I do not think prison rape should be part of doing time.

Take a deep breath, read the post, and start again.

"...Even so, he said, "I hope I always act in a stupid way when it comes to acting passionately about something I care about."

Once a RAT, always a RAT.

Throw away the key.

"with fierce teenage passion..."

Which translated means an ill-informed, self-centered, the world-revolves-around-me-and-my-emotions, frightened brat.

hopes to take some courses, perhaps to include training as an electrician, locksmith or bartender.

"I love to acquire seemingly useless skills," he said.

Typical liberal elitist. Jobs that you do with your hands, jobs that serve other people and society, are "useless skills."
