Punk Bands Release Anti-Bush Protest CD

(CNSNews.com) - A 26-song CD coming out on Tuesday urges punk music fans to "Rock Against Bush."

For the "especially low price of $8.98," those fans can hear various bands "uniting against a common enemy."

Three of the songs on the CD are titled "Moron," "Warbrain," and "No W." Others include "The School of Assassins" and "Sink, Florida, Sink."

According to the punk record label Fat Wreck Chords, which is releasing the CD, 17 of the 26 songs are "unreleased and exclusive," from bands including Social Distortion, NOFX, Ataris, Anti-Flag, New Found Glory, Alkaline Trio, Descendents, Ministry, and others.

A press release from Fat Wreck Chords said the goal of the "Rock Against Bush" project is to get the "crucially important" anti-Bush message to as many people as possible.

With that in mind, Fat Wreck Chords decided it was not enough to simply release a collection of protest songs. Therefore, the Rock Against Bush CD comes with a "bonus DVD that is packed with music videos and informative political content" from anti-Bush documentaries.

Those documentaries include "Unprecedented," which claims, "George W. Bush stole the presidency of the United States... and got away with it." Another documentary called 'Uncovered' tells the story of how "truth became the first American casualty in Iraq."

Al Jourgensen of Ministry said his band contributed to the protest CD as a "proactive expression of outrage against the 'evil-doings' being inflicted upon American citizens and citizens of other sovereign nations by the Bush Administration."

In the same press release, Justin Sane from the band Anti-Flag commented, "Our brothers and sisters of this human race are dying for George Bush's friends in corporate America who profit from the invasions of Iraq, Afghanistan, and the U.S. orchestrated coup in Haiti. This may not bother you now, but when someone you love is shipped off to Iraq to fight for greed, or you find your feet in a pair of army boots in the desert, it will."

The Fat Wreck Chords website urges punk fans to "Order Rock Against Bush comp and get a schweeet anti-Bush bumper sticker!"

The website also invites fans to "Hear some s*** from Rock Against Bush Vol. I !"

Volume II is still in the planning stages.

If a 501(c)3 non-profit radio station (like Pacifica) plays this CD, have they committed tax fraud by engaging in a partisan political statement calling for the defeat of a specific candidate or party?

Current punks are democrat silly putty whereas they should be anarchists.

"Anarchy" is not the solution. These are socialist-anarchists (plenty of books on the subject at looney leftists site AKpress.org

Punk came about as a counter to the politically correct hypocritical dictators in the hippy movement (counter-counter-culture).

It was somewhat apolitical (also being a musical revolution going back to simpler structured songs and a rejection of restrictions on content or musical ability; form a band and then learn to play).

The only thing the left has to sell is hatred of the Bush family. If this were 1933 it would be like telling us that Hitler is evil and that Stalin is nice "by comparison" yet when we look at the figures, Stalin killed millions more of his own people. Lesser of two evils is no choice and the left can run the Kerry Scampaign only by shielding from voters any details regarding their candidate.

The difference between the two is Alice knows it's an act and when to leave it behind to lead a quiet normal life, Marilyn doesn't, this lack of knowledge is probably shortening Marilyn's life which in the end will give Alice the last laugh.

The difference is drugs; Alice gave them up long ago while Marilyn continues to get wired. Alice got freaked by his fans and mellowed out; Marilyn believes his own hype.

I always felt that Marilyn Manson wanted to be this guy

Al Jourgenson, Trent Reznor, and Brian Warner (aka Marilyn Munster) ALL want to be this man:

Foetus aka Jim Thirwell aka Clint Ruin

...yet like many other innovators, he was overlooked while the immitators got chart success.

ooh, Misfits --- I just listened to Metallica's cover of "Last Caress"--

"I got something to say,

I killed your baby today,

Doesn't matter much to me

As long as it's dead." :-)

I disagree. It was a full-scale outdoor concert by the Anti-Nowhere League the sparked the riots in Yugoslavia beginning in Belgrade. You can't get much more socialist than that country was!

LOL. Such a pretty, uplifting song too. If you're a mass murderer.
I find a lot of songs like this. I like the music, but the lyrics really put me off sometimes.

It looks like I'm going to have to go home and toss out my Social D and NOFX records. No big loss . . .
