The real problem with sheep left unshorn for years is that often they will lay down and not be able to get up because of the weight of the wool. The advantage of not shearing every year is that they are usually too heavy to jump fences...:)

And, it's probably also a good thing it's dry where he was. If he fell into a creek or a lake, or if that stuff had gotten waterlogged...

,,, as long as there's plenty of pasture I doubt the thought of jumping fences would ever cross their minds. Goats and deer jump fences though.
