Actually, McCain was sounding like he was auditioning for VP to Kerry. Maybe he is listenting to Hillary, and realizes that this the last chance sneak into the White House.

I once read that McCain got special treatment from his captors while he was a POW....treats such as snacks, fresh fruit, and cigarettes (oh, the horror there).
