I'm starting to think there's more to Nick Berg's story than meets the eye. Why was he arrested in the first place?

In that case what WAS he doing there and was he really one of them? Or an adventurer to sell out to whomever would pay?
I hope this can be truthfully sorted out. With the current understanding of "truth" who will ever know.

We named Rumsfeld as the responsible person, and I still hold him responsible," Mr Berg said. Well, that didn't take long.

It sounds as if their son's death is fitting in with their Bush-hatred. Stop using the memory of your son for political fodder.
To: t1b8zs
Strange. They just lost a son and now they are playing politics with his death.

I have one thing to say about the beheading. Civilian opportunists should not be in a war zone, it could be hazardous to ones health. He was there getting paid by the US Government about $20,000.00 per month. I don't think it was worth it. And his liberal commie father wants to blame Bush.

It's the whole Patriot Act. That's it, it's that dadgummed Patriot Act. Why, before that POS legislation, you could wander about a warzone with impunity. What's this world coming to? (/sarcasm)

"That's really what cost my son his life, the fact that the United States government saw fit to keep him in custody for 13 days without any of his due process or civil rights," Mr Berg said. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Nick Berg wasn't beheaded while in the custody of the US government was he?
/rhetorically sarcastic question./

Am I missing something? Why was he being held by the US military? Was he accussed of something?
Regardless. I feel bad for his family. Horrific to find out that his death was on some cheap Islamonut website.

The preceeding message brought to you by the elect Kerry campaign.

Michael Berg claimed yesterday that his son, Nick, was held by US authorities without access to a telephone or lawyer because of suspicions that he was an insurgent or terrorist.
Mr. Berg is also a member of ANSWER!
Therefore, I lay the blame for his son's death at HIS OWN DAMN DOORSTEP, as well as the plague that is Islamazism!
Hey, Mr. Berg....still believe these left-hand a$$wipers are civilized, and there was no NEED to clean up this mess? Are the REALLY a "religion of Peace"?

Please excuse my rant...however....
How is this even remotely related to the Bush Administration? How about putting the blame where it belongs? Mr. Berg must of had some knowledge that he was heading INTO A DANGEROUS PARTIALLY UNSTABLE COUNTRY...WITH ARMED DANGEROUS TERRORIST PIGS WONDERING THROUGHOUT IT(in my best Sam Kinison voice). So, if Mr. Berg stayed home, he'd still be alive. Ok, let's deal with the fact that he did go to Iraq. BLAME THE F'in PEOPLE THAT TOOK THE KNIFE TO HIS THROAT!! Just out of curiosity, does anyone know why Mr. Berg was detained? Could he have been their for some other reason?

How about a little grieving before playing the blame game. .....And how about placing the blame where it should be placed -- solely on Islamofascism. But these peoples' PC sensibilities simply just won't allow them to see the true culprit.

A video from an al-Qaeda-affiliated website depicted his decapitation by a gang of men who claimed to be taking revenge for the abuses committed by US soldiers at the Abu Ghraib prison. What is their excuse for cutting off Daniel Pearl's head????????????
These people are animals and the only thing they understand is brute force. Saddam had them pegged properly. We should just turn Saddam loose and let him start up his empire gain.

Pennsylvania community shocked by Nick Berg's death
BY SANDY BAUERS
Knight Ridder Newspapers
WEST CHESTER, Pa. - (KRT) - If Nick Berg had a tragic flaw, his father thinks he knows what it was.
"He believed in people," Michael Berg said Tuesday, shortly after learning that his son had been beheaded in Iraq. "He wanted to help people."
Whatever came up, "he thought he could handle it," Michael said. "That was both the good - and the demise - of him. He didn't believe that people would do things."
Those who knew Nick Berg, 26, remembered him as a complex man - funny, outgoing, dramatic, compassionate, inquisitive, inventive and extremely bright. Above all, they remembered him as a humanitarian who wanted to make the world better.
He played the tuba in high school and traveled to Third World countries with only a small backpack, taking only barest essentials because he felt material things got in the way.
Berg felt comfortable with strangers, his family said.
"I think part of what got him into trouble was that he wasn't afraid to be in with groups that most Americans won't be with," said his mother, Suzanne. "And I don't think he understood the danger of ... traveling with non-Americans. That's probably what killed him. He was probably in a group of non-Americans and stood out like a sore thumb."

Wasn't this guy an INDEPENDENT contractor with his FATHER as his "manager"? How can the father blame Bush or anyone else when he, the father, allowed his son to go over there seeking contracts? As for being detained wasn't it the Iraqis that detained him? Isn't it also odd that a guy would go over there on his own, by himself, looking for contracts?
His parents are a disgrace and dishonor their son. They do Kerry proud. He's also a hypocrite.
