BAGHDAD, Iraq - A U.S. helicopter fired on a wedding party before dawn Wednesday in western Iraq (news - web sites), killing more than 40 people, Iraqi officials said. The U.S. military said it could not confirm the report and was investigating.
Lt. Col Ziyad al-Jbouri, deputy police chief of Ramadi, said between 42 and 45 people were killed in the attack, which took place about 2:45 a.m. in a remote desert area near the border with Syria and Jordan. He said the dead included 15 children and 10 women.
Dr. Salah al-Ani, who works at a hospital in Ramadi, put the death toll at 45.
Associated Press Television News obtained videotape showing a truck containing bodies of people who were allegedly killed in the incident. Most of the bodies were wrapped in blankets and other cloths, but the footage showed at least eight uncovered, bloody bodies, several of them children. One of the children was headless.
This is very, very sad, and very unfortunate. Perhaps if ALL of the commanders weren't in the US appearing before these STUPID committees, these kinds of things wouldn't happen. We are in a war and yet, because of our INEPT politicians, the men who lead the war have to appear before them; so they can grandstand in front of the cameras! PC will be the death of America.
there is no such thing as an innocent islamic . which side are you on?
That was our revenge for the Berg heheading.
That was our revenge for the Berg beheading.
Frankly, I wouldn't put it past terrorists to do something like this and blame it on Americans for the publicity value.
A wedding at 3 in the morning on the Syrian-Iraq border sounds like a cover to me.
Nothing like firing off guns in the middle of a war zone.
Of course there aren't... shouldn't the WH be issuing a corrected press release?? ;-)
I didn't see anything in the article stating that Dubya fired on the wedding party; nor did I see that he ORDERED this unfortunate attack. Why is Bush a hypocrite? Please enlighten me on this.
Pretty dark here at 2AM....were they shooting 'tracers' in the direction of a helo...flying nearby
perhaps?...just for the fun of it?
Even Iraqis firing into the air wouldnt bring this response unless there are aircraft flying low at the same time the celebration ensues.
Unlikely imo.
I think this story is either completely bogus, or doctored.
But after Seeing Nick Bergs head removed, Many of our soldiers killed and shot at even by children...Frankly I dont give a damn anymore. This is war people die, let it be theirs.

If so...then shooting back is kinda...acceptable...though those 3.75 rockets can really chew up a wedding cake and a rental tuxedo
I call BS!!!
Bet somebody had it out for them. Mortars, more likely.

Its about the double standard where Israel is held to account for "accidents" during mil ops and we get a pass. There should be ONE STANDARD in the War On Terror. Since the President spoke out of both sides of his mouth, yes I consider him to be a hypocrite. If he had remained mercifully silent, there wouldn't be a beef about his WH statement on Rafah. And now comes this firing on an Iraqi wedding party. I guess the U.S definition of "restraint" is more flexible than the one demanded of Israel or else it doesn't exist. And we have also committed a war crime.

Yep.
I heard, but can't confirm, that the bride and groom were carrying RPG's. And that the U.S. helicopter was just firing warning shots. And that a rocket hit a building next door, and that building was loaded with terrorist munitions.
Or was that Gaza?
